What the heck is going on here? We are losing tons of scholarship players and now giving scholarships to a bunch of kids that most likely aren't even D1 players. Something is seriously screwed up, man!! This all seems so incredibly unstable and messed up.

Ok, so they're all walk-ons. I saw that some were but didn't realize they all were.

This is a great thing. They are giving Oregonians the chance to be part of the team. I think Walkons tend to play harder when they have that home state pride. This increases the amount of Oregonians on the team, which Andersen said is important for a connection to the state. The press release is very welcoming to the players and shows how important this is to the team. Walkons are very important in providing depth and filling out a team. I am very glad that the coaching staff is searching hard for potential walkons in the state as these kids will go to battle for you.

Wondering for those in the HS loop... any connection / coincidence that these great kids also come from schools with up and coming recruitable talent?

Ranked in top 5 in the nation for class of '18, some as high as 1 or 2 depending on the recruiting service. Corvallis: Marco Brewer, OT(?) Also 2018, starting to show up on some recruiting sites. Can't speak to the other schools. Should be a pretty strong 2017 class of in-state kids though. Not sure how many we have a legit shot with due to one reason or another. However, I think the guy we would love to have is just up the road in Independence - but has offers from everyone in the conference, plus Michigan, Notre Dame and Nebraska. He's a beast.
