Just posing the question. Personally I'm not a huge fan of retiring numbers, but..
Currently there are 2 WBB players at OSU whose numbers are retired:
Carol Menken Felicia Ragland
Weisner's OSU honors surpass those of Ragland and Menken so by that standard she merits the same honor. But as noted above, I don't really feel strongly about it and don't see the need to take numbers out of circulation. It would be nice to see her banner up at Gill at some point in the future.

Agreed on the retiring of numbers... not sure there is a great way to determine it. Sometimes I think men are somewhat easier in hoops as weight is given to NBA careers for instance, and are very public to see/use. There is no doubt on CM's career and meaning to OSU Women's hoops... Felicia was also heavily awarded. She was a two-time honorable mention Associated Press and two-time Kodak District 8 All-American while playing at Oregon State from 1999-2002. She was a three-time Pacific-10 Conference first team pick and was the 2001 Pac-10 Player of the Year. As a senior, Ragland led the Beavers in scoring (19.9 ppg.), rebounding (6.6 rpg.), steals (2.5 spg.), and 3-point field goals (69). Ragland is one of just three Oregon State players to score 1,600 points (1,803) and pull down 600 rebounds (739) in her career. She finished her four seasons at OSU ranked in the school's top-10 in 14 different career statistical categories. Ragland holds the Oregon State record for 3-point field goals made with 178 (at that time). There should be (3) TEAM banners already planned... PAC12 Champs (reg/tourney), Regional Champs, Final Four... that would suffice for Jamie as she is all about TEAM. |

I would imagine it will happen eventually, but you don't usually retire numbers until a fair amount of time has passed. Syd and Ruth might end up in the rafters, too.
As for honors, Felicia was conference POY, but not an AA, so Jamie clearly is one-up on her.
Carol was an All-American and has an Olympic gold medal for brags, but no Final Four - so the two seem to be on about the same level.
Tanja Kostic was four-time all-conference, AA, and two-time conference POY - she belongs up there.
Ruth has half of a conference POY, two conference Defensive POYs, and a Final Four, which should put her in the conversation.
Syd will leave with a conference POY, AA honors, two Final Fours, and a National Championship - that will probably be enough to get her jersey retired.

Also... again maybe sexist in a way... but, way harder to compare players from just 10-15 years ago in women's hoops. Players are just so much better now in terms of overall skills and the number of extremely gifted players in the game. Not that the past players did not deserve their accolades, but today's game/player is vastly different. Dating myself... you wonder if players like Cheryl Miller were born three decades early. At 6'2 she played more like the women of today. |

I don't disagree - basketball is a team sport and Jamie was (Jamie in the past tense, sigh) the ultimate team player. |

My number was retired in high school. I stunk up the court so bad nobody wanted to use it. It's hanging up in the rafters near an air vent.

They'll no doubt retire it. Not only was her career amazing....but her choice to come here started it all. She led the way
