Pick 203, round 6. Poor Isaiah...great player, but in the NFL it’s all about the eye-popping 40’s and strength (and probably conference you are from). The most loaded draft for receivers in history...poor timing. A huge blunder not coming back for his senior year. You reap what you sow.

Who had Brandel going before Hodgins? Brandel is less of a project. Hodgins still needs a lot of work. He should have returned in 2020.

Going to have to be a slot, over the middle possession receiver and get the dog doo beat out of him.

The Bills are a great place for him. Except for Diggs, the rest of their incumbent receiving corps are undersized possession guys. He'll get a real shot.

He wasn’t going to improve his that much by coming back. Just be happy he’s getting his shot.

Who had Brandel going before Hodgins? Honestly? Early? Me. Based on the sheer number of receivers. But then as I started getting in to it, I realized there was a huge number of O linemen too! Started second guessing myself!

Just be happy he’s getting his shot. You are right he probably wasn't improving his speed, but I think he might of fared better in a less stacked class. One year could of thinned the herd of WRs he was fighting against. Hodgins was the 31st WR off the board, out of 37. In a year with less talent, he probably goes higher. That, and another 1,000 yard season, another season with good tape and hit helps forgive that 40 time. Lets not forget, he really only had one "elite" season. This year. 86 catches, 1171 yards and 13 TDs. Great year. But his sophomore campaign was basically just pretty good. Back to back years of 1,000+ yards, 150 odd catches, 20-25 TDs? You can start to look past the medicore 40 a little bit more. He lacked quality tape to overcome the measurable.

Great production, but bad 40 time makes you a late round pick. NFL is too focused on measurables and not on college production.

Great production, but bad 40 time makes you a late round pick. NFL is too focused on measurables and not on college production. Hass was a 6'-0 "slow" guy. Hodgins is a 6'4" "slow" guy with a huge wingspan. Hodgins does still have better measureables... Also, NFL is a lot different now than in 2005. NFL is going spread passing, and leaving power running behind. Hass was drafted into an era of two WR sets with blocking TEs and/or fullbacks. Patriots hadn't yet shown the world the power of a slot. It is more and more common to have standard 3 TE sets out there, and it is more common for niche type receivers to find homes. Not trying to say that 40 isn't important... it is and it hurt him, but Hodgins still has a lot going for him in the measurable department.
