Reminder to bring something constructive with your posts. This thread is a high risk to derail, and will then either be locked or cleaned up.
To be clear, just posting left wing/right wing buzzwords/insult/labels is not bringing anything constructive.

Probably aimed at Nike. One could argue Phil still has slaves actually.

Perspective from a current player: I wasn't a history major, but didn't the Civil War bring an END to slavery? I learned it was the Emancipation Proclamation that ended slavery. Of course, there was a subsequent skirmish in enforcing it in some parts of the country. Even then, after the war ended, some didn't bother to tell some slaves they were free. Hence Juneteenth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juneteenth

I wasn't a history major, but didn't the Civil War bring an END to slavery? A more precise summary is that the Civil War was started by those who wanted to maintain slavery, and it was fought until they gave up on that cause.

The Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime executive order that did not end slavery in all states it was directed at the Confederacy. It was the 13th amendment to the constitution codified the elimination of slavery.

Wonder if streets sign that include N for north and S for south will have to go. There is already a movement in Corvallis to rename all the streets named after the first 15 Presidents prior to Lincoln......then they'll move on to the the schools.

Not a big deal to me. The State pressured several High Schools to change their mascot names several years ago. The kids adapted immediately, the adults about had a heart attack.
As an alum, I would like to think Oregon State is all about me, it's not it's about the current students. The Administration is addressing the current student body on this issue. Not me.
