Need to get our leader on board.
The Pac-12 is one of two Power Five conferences, joining the Big Ten, in postponing football until 2021. One conference that continues to plan fall football is the SEC, where Alexander spent seven years as president at LSU.
Asked what the Pac-12 sees that the SEC doesn’t see, Alexander said simply, “I think, probably, reality.”
That is a quote that is most likely to age very poorly. Seems to me the quote is spot on... www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29892180/lsu-coach-ed-orgeron-most-team-contracted-coronavirus

yep, sounds like most of the team has contracted covid per the head coach. How many hospitalizations?
How many Pac12 players have contracted covid? Oh you dont know because they aren't being monitored everyday?
If its "spot on" why is The University of South Alabama able to play football and UCLA cannot? Why is Coastal Carolina able to play football and Oregon is not? Oh its because of "reality"? Bulls%#te

But do they stay committed? Do the kids from across the country still travel to Oregon, I’m thinking they lose some....maybe quite a few. They just had two top recruits commit in the last week. Committed sure why not, this virus sticks around till next year without a vaccine I don’t see parents wanting their kids moving cross country to attend college. If the ducks want them there’s plenty of opportunities a lot closer to home. Nike is a part of the equation but I think regardless of that they’ll lose a portion of the 21’ class. Kids flip all the time for reasons no where near as serious as their health and well being.

Now that it is looking more and more likely that the PAC 12 will play football this fall. What reality is it that the PAC 12 saw that the SEC didn't?

Bulls%#te Some colleges and universities are able to play football because the simply WANT to play football regardless the cost. Easy. If you were told that the cost of playing football would be that EVERY player on LSU’s football team would contract the virus, would you have said go for it? It’s an interesting statement to have been made. It would be interesting to do the math to see if it was possible for every player on LSU’s team to have gotten the virus and been quarantined for 2 weeks and for LSU still to have enough key players to field a team. Or did some play while infected? It’s curious. But it’s more telling that so many players have opted out. LOL! Players who have the option to bow out by and large have taken that option. Obviously, they know what’s important. They see reality.

My opinion has changed in the last month. If we test the players everyday with the test that gives results in 20 minutes or so, I don't see any increased risk to contracting the virus by playing. But the testing must happen. There needs to be a plan in place and have it followed. And there can't be false negatives associated with the test. With this in place, if students are allowed on campus and attending classes, the players should have the ability to play.

Since the purpose of a college is to educate people - why do athletes get daily testing but the general student body doesn't? I love football, season ticket holder for decades but entertainment is hardly as important as school. Asking for a friend.

So, if the purpose of college is to educate, why do we have sports? It's not fair that some students get their tuition, books, and room and board paid for because they play sports. Does my friend understand correctly?

While athletics are an important part of an education, the way college sports are done in the US is f%#*ed up.

I for one, em excited 2 come onto here & not see the same disagreements in every thread
Covid 19 is for the weak vs Covid 19 is real
Lefties vs Righties
My facts are right vs nope mine are and I'm taking my ball and goin home
Regardless when it is.... I'm sure excited to chat about
Beavs vs insert team name here
Our little sports site has turned into what all the diverders want..... division
I come here with one common thing in mind ..... we all enjoy supporting Oregon State athletics. I can't wait to break down why we didn't go for it 4th and 2 or chatting about a great defensive stand. There's been a reason why I don't post much more. I just refuse 2 let the dividers make me take the bait
