Seems like our pitchers give up at least one home run a game. Today UW takes a 1-0 lead early on a homer. We score a run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 2-1 lead, gets two outs in top 7 and boom, game tied. Is there any chance our staff is calling poor pitch selection or location or is it all on our pitchers? Any thoughts?

Could be... poor pitch calls, good pitch recognition by hitter, pitcher not overpowering/not great location on off speed stuff, or just missed a spot. Key in both baseball/softball... you have to be able to pitch backwards. You have to have AT LEAST two pitches that vary in speed that you can throw to spots in ANY count. As Greg Maddux used to preach at a camp, "if you can't make your strikes look like balls, and your balls look like strikes find another position."

And now for hitting. We have runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and the next two hitters strike out. Almost same as last week. Coach Berg will give the same broken record advice that we didn't make the adjustment. I'm wondering if it's too much T work and psychosomatic training. Nothing replaces live pitching like live pitching.

That means our 1,2,3 and 4 hitters struck out in big spots. Frustrating but there's always tomorrow.
