Of course everyone remembers him from the raunchy daytime talk show that made him famous worldwide but the more I read about his life before that it was pretty interesting ... he was born in 1944 in a London underground subway station from his German Jew parents that had fled Nazi Germany and were sheltering during the war. He lived there in London until his parents immigrated to the USA when he was 5 on the Queen Mary.
He later went on and received a law degree from Northwestern and went into politics and served as Cincinnati's mayor for one year in 1977 ... then became a TV news anchor and commentator for WLWT Channel 5 in Cinci where he stayed for many years and made a name for himself before he ultimately moved on to Chicago and started the show that immortalized himself in TV pop culture history.
