By June 15, 1944, Operation Perch had been bungled by the British. Tilly-sur-Seulles had changed hands 22 times but was still in Nazi hands. Tilly-sur-Seulles would not fall until the 18th and Caen would not fall until July 20th. George S. Patton's Third Army would not be fully operational until August, and it was a war of attrition until the Third Army spearheaded the breakout.

What happened to him....really? Whereabouts unknown. He became a sheriff in Alabama and investigated a case in which two kids from New York were accused of murdering a gas station store clerk. He initially believed that the kids were guilty and, during a court hearing for the case, intentionally misrepresented that one of the kids admitted to shooting the clerk when in fact the kid was asking a shocked question of disbelief when he was accused of the murder. It's okay. D Day eventually came around and actually collected evidence that sealed a dismissal for the two kids from New York. It took him a while to get there but everybody won in the end

The record I saw didn't correspond with the normal amount of time I would expect to pass between an arrest for murder an the actual bringing of the trial.

How was the Chinese food? Did they even have any in that town? Probably not. I believe @ftd is telling a joke. I forget the actual exchange verbatim, but, to paraphrase: Marisa Tomei says that she believes that the Chinese food will suck, and Joe Pesci says that there will not be any Chinese food. I believe that there was a Chinese place right next to the courthouse that they used for filming, and they had to shoot the film, so that you could not see it.

I believe ftd was telling a joke and I was just continuing it a little...I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I believe that they had a discussion about there likely being no Chinese food in town and I kinda went with that.

The sheriff in the town was played by Bruce McGill also played D Day. My reference to Chinese food was based on the 'story' by seatape, and the obvious reference to the movie 'My Cousin Vinny'. Chinese food, grits, mud in the tires, chicken and pool, laundry closed due to the flu and second hand store are all funny scenes from the movie. If you haven't seen it...you should it's pretty funny. Also Herman Munster was the judge.... In the courthouse in which I work, there is a judge who tells every jury panel that enters his courtroom that everything you need to know about criminal law is contained in the movie, "My Cousin Vinny." And he has a good point.
