First round draft pick. He's been stellar all season.
You know who balled out today was X. Crawford was out of his mind most of the day and absolutely sticking tackles.

Stellar... but not even top 2-3 in Pac12... UW, USC, Colorado all have higher rated CB prospects. Most rankings of CBs don't have Decoud unless they rank past #25 at a position. Like CBSSports they have him as 37th best CB/315th best prospect. He just needs to have great post season workouts and get at least an UDFA deal with a team that really needs DBs. His play on the field is not going to get him to pass 25-30 other prospects.

I saw something the other day that said DeCoud has the lowest completion ratio of any CB in the conference. He's showing out like crazy right now and the rankings are based on pre-season rankings. I don't have to remind you that there are big moves up and down the chart during the season, I know... but DeCoud being a JC transfer and playing his first year of Pac12 football last season I think his pre-season rankings were low. He was money last year but he's made a huge leap this year, don't you agree?

Feel free to show me any list that had Deshone Kizer as the #1 rated NFL QB coming in to the season. or even top 10. 5 games in he's the #1 rated NFL QB prospect. Relatively unknown college players shoot up NFL draft lists every single year. OA is right, very few knew who DeCoud was coming into the season (I'm sure some NFL teams have been watching him), they are paying attention now. Decoud is having a 1st team All Pac 10 type season so far, and as the announcers said last night, arguably an all-american type season. He is shutting down #1 receivers. His play on the field is ABSOLUTELY going to get him to pass 25 to 30 other prospects if he's indeed better than them. It's not like NFL teams don't scout Pac 12 football players. Particularly ones as big as DeCoud, who has the size to cover the monster WRs in the NFL. I'm guessing OA is closer at his 1st round projection then you are at UDFA if DeCoud keeps this up. He is still going to have to do well in offseason drills, NFL teams still get hard-ons for things like 40 times, particularly for CBs and WRs. But if he keeps playing like he is now the rest of the season, and gets the post-season awards he deserves, he will have already passed up 15 to 20 guys currently rated higher than him (particularly since most current ratings are still heavily weighted toward pre-season ratings), including 2 or 3 that are currently ranked ahead of him from the Pac 12.

But has made several key basic mistakes, and doesn’t have grest transition speed. Our system will also slow his learning curve... we're very basic. He'll move up if his play continues on this trajectory, but only 4-5 CBs will be 1st rounders... he won't get into that group. His size is great, top end speed is not. He'll get a chance to play on Sunday

LOL... you just made my point. The list that currently has him a #1 QB has Decoud #315 overall/#37 at his position. They update weekly. Decoud is not even on most top 25s at his spot. The rest of your post is conjecture thst applies to all prospects. And with all the pub/love for the kids at SC, UW, Colorado Decoud is playing well but not passing that threesome unless injury hits. Not even going into the kids at Clemson, Bama, FL, etc. He's playing well and improved but lets not go all overboard.

Because you said earlier his play on the field isn't going to move him up in the draft prospect rankings. Then when I provide evidence of another playing moving up in the ratings specifically because of his play on the field that that proves your point. Which is it. DeCoud doesn't play QB, his play isn't going to impact a game nearly as much as a QBs, although you can certainly argue it did yesterday. Still, that doesn't mean it's not getting noticed by NFL draft scouts. Unlike guys like Rob Rang and Dan Brugler, who I strongly doubt have watched more than 1 or 2 quarters of Oregon State football this year, and as far as I know never spent a second in an NFL war room on draft day with scouts and front office personnel. They are draftniks for a reason. I'm not even bashing those guys, but they simply don't have the time to invest in watching an Oregon State vs. Cal game or even the tape. But I guarantee more than a few NFL scouts were watching, and they saw Decoud complete own the Pac 12's leading WR in receiving yards from the entire game. Look, anyone can turn on an OS game and see Tristan Decoud is a difference maker on OS's D, and would be for almost every single college team in the land. How many CBs at the college level are playing out on an island against the opposing teams #1, and for the most part shutting them down. He's not getting support over the top or underneath, he's blanketing their best WR. Unless he s%#ts the tank during his offseason workouts, his play right now during the season is absolutely not being missed by NFL scouts. He's impressing the s%#t out of them, and probably every single one hopes he continues to fly under the radar with draftniks.

I never once mentioned he was not getting "noticed". In fact I said quite the opposite... his stock has and could improve... just not going to be in the top 30-50 picks. Also, those 'draftniks' that do not have time to invest are the ones doing the rankings. So, it really doesn't matter what you think of them, they know more than you and I and NFL personnel do depend on their info/background work to narrow down prospects to focus on. Do they try to find the under the radar guys too? Sure. So, you can get angry and argue all you want, but the facts are there for you to read for yourself. Decoud is not even in the top 30 of CBs available and that does not include kids who can come out early. Has he been a difference maker for OSU? Sure. Would he be "for almost every college team in the land"? NOPE. He's the best CB of a bad defensive team (at this point in time). He played very well (as did Crawford vs multiple looks/WRs) vs a team that was very one dimensional and we took away that one aspect well... with a TEAM effort.

LOL I'm way too fan forum experienced to get "angry" at the smartest guy at Benny's House. You never mentioned he was not getting noticed, you just keep implying that he's not getting noticed. And specifically using ratings put out by draft dorks as the basis of your argument. I've watched every Pac 12 team now at least twice and the only other CB playing at Decoud's level is Jackson. In fact, I'd argue he's playing at a higher level right now than Steve Nelson did his senior year, he being a 3rd round NFL draft selection. But you are right, he's simply the best CB on a bad defensive team.

I'm guessing that DeCoud runs a 4.5 40 at the combine. He doesn't have elite recovery speed but he's so long and so smooth. Great hips, great feel for the ball.. I'm surprised that we are so far apart on this tbh, we see eye to eye more often than not.
I'm saying he's going to get voted All-Conference by opposing coaches and he's definitely getting an invite to the combine.
