My mac book pro keeps crashing It seems to occur when in sleep mode
I have updated the OS and all apps, reinstalled the OS, ran Mac diagnostics, setup a Guest ID...still crashes
Booted in safe mode - no crashes
Reading the crash report means nothing to me...No clear indication other than a Kernel Panic
Ideas? Last resort I guess is to take it to an Apple store and ask a 'genius'...

Could help ya with Windows or Linux.
The only Mac I have is just the right height to take the wobble out of a table in my computer lab.

Well I reset the machine back to factory and restored from backup (which looks good). Fingers crossed it worked...

Since the machine booted into safe mode without a crash, there is probably a conflict with an application. Have you installed anything recently that may be the culprit?

Obviously, the conflict is coming from something that you've loaded....which is good because it means your machine is fine, but it sucks because you may need that software.

its 2019 running Sonoma 14.4. The reset and restore didn't help. Still crashes when in sleep mode...about once an hour...

Did it happen in Ventura? And is it just when it's sleeping that it crashes? I've read some users have trouble with Sonoma and sleep. I wonder if that's the problem. But it sounds different from what you described up above.

You say you updated to the latest (14.4), but what were you running when it started happening? It seems to only occur after Feb 22nd. Not sure what I updated then..It was happening in earlier version of Sonoma..I was hoping 14.4 had the fix. It does seem to only occur when sleeping and seems to happen about once an hour. I have turned off sleep mode and will see if it still crashes. I have read many of the same posts you likely saw...many complain it happens when in sleep mode. I am hoping Apple figures it out soon as it seems to happen to quite a few people on Sonoma. Thanks for the input!

I suspect it have something to do with Intel vs. M1, 2, or 3. It's likely that the newer OS just doesn't support the older Intel Macs as well, which is kinda weird.
Good luck!

I turned off 'sleep' mode Thus far no crashes. Seems odd it would crash when sleeping...Not a fix but a work around

I spoke too soon..still does oddball crashes on Ventura, although they don't show up in the Crash Log (Console app). Shows up in the Log Reports in Console. Seems to happen when the lid is closed and when reopening it, the machine crashes. Leave the lid open..no crash
