#1 another one of those Asian countries. I guessed correctly #2 - argh, really no clues but I should have done better with both the location and the year #3 - I looked at this a while. Finally two clues popped out to me and I got the country correct #4 - 865 miles away. I contemplated the correct country but when to someone else in the neighborhood #5 - I have not seen this photo before but this location has been shown once or twice.

Closer on four of five.  The first American picture looked a lot older to me than it was actually.  And that resulted in the L.

I may be the only person playing this now. Anyway, there's been a heavy emphasis on Inca, Mayan, and Aztec ruins. I've seen some and it's generally difficult for me. I can tell the difference from the highlands of South America (Bolivia, Lake Titicaca) and the jungles of Central America. But whether a ruin is in the Yucatan, or El Salvador or near Oaxaca, I'm mostly lost. And then today, there was a semi-contemporary photo of the American west and I was 857 miles away. And I've been within about 20 miles of that site.
