Washington powerhouse Puyallup HS is off to a fast start this spring. The Vikings led by three Oregon State recruits are 9-2 through April 10th. Head Coach Mark Wiese has made the state playoffs in 17 of his 29 years guiding the Puyallup program with two state championships and two runner-up finishes in WIAA playoff action. With six Division I recruits, his year's team is considered a strong contender for another title. A quick look at the future Beavers;
KAI HALSTEAD (2024): PA: 36, AB/H: 10-25, R: 7, RBI: 10, XBH: 3 Doubles and 1 Home Run, BB: 6, HBP: 4, K: 3, SB: 1, SLASH: .400/ .556/ .640
A 5-10, 195 Catcher who was previously committed to Stanford.
MASON PIKE (2025): PA: 32, AB/H: 11-22, R: 2, RBI: 8, XBH: 2 Doubles, BB: 4, HBP: 4, K: 4, SB:3 SLASH: .500/ .594/ .590.
A Top-40 ranked prospect nationally who pitches and plays both MIF positions. 6' 190 and athletic.

*** Yesterday on 4-10 in the National HS Invitational Tourney in Carey, N.C. which includes 16 of the top prep programs in the nation, Puyallup played the number 1 team in the nation, Corona, CA. HS. After pitching a scoreless 1st inning, Mason Pike fell victim to an 8 run second inning and Corona HS prevailed 8-0. Corona has the the #1 RHP in California and the nation, Seth Hernandez (Vanderbilt '24), and the #1 LHP in California and #2 nationally in Ethan Schiefelbein (UCLA '25). Puyallup plays again today.
