Reported that 19 players from the Softball team opted for the Portal pretty much immediately after their season ended.
Is this somehow different from what happened to the Women's Basketball Team? Or is it simply the same reaction to the same situation?
Looks to me that our players, no matter what sport they play, just don't want to compete in a less competitive conference. GO BEAVS!!

They weren't really "competing" in their current conference in softball.

Seems to be different AND the same. Different sports Different levels of success Same conference move. Seems to me that the Softball players would love to head to a weaker conference and (hopefully) win a lot of games, because they struggled mightily to compete at the P12 level. For hoops, the team could have dominated the WCC and taken another shot at a long run in the tournament.

Thanks for the tip on the parallel thread discussing the Softball Portal and the wave of OSU transfers making use of it...
There is some very good info on this thread, and, some really solid points delivered by yourself and others... I recommend those who haven't read it to take a look!! GO BEAVS!!

I was naive to think women's sports would be less affected.
This one is a real head scratcher though.
