Is the implication that the refs were terrible only towards us, or just terrible in general? If it's the former, that's a problem. If it's the latter, it's called Pac-12 football.

The broadcast crew were hammering them for being confused, and that started in the first 5 minutes. The first half seemed like it took 3 hours. The zebras had a bad game, but for the most part reffing in the Pac 12 has improved IMO.

The refs were simply bad all night starting with the first call of the game where two flags were thrown. they said the calls were on the defense (WSU) and then turned it around and said both were on the beavs. They just seemed to be out of position and perhaps out of shape. They seemed to be disorganized as if they had never worked together or simply didn't know where each should be positioned on the field. There is no need to take five minutes review after review after review. There were only three maybe four camera angles the guy upstairs doesn't need that long to look at the various angles. There should be a two minute limit - can't make a decision go with what was called. I swear they had reviews to give the out of shape refs a breather.

Did you catch the Baylor-Texas game. That crew made the OSU-WSU crew look like Hall of Fame guys. Pathetic is worse than terrible.

The head ref in the OSU/WSU game is a holdover from the old days of horrific PAC10 officiating. I have no idea how that guy still has a job, when I saw him at the beginning of the game I knew it was going to be a long night. He is tremendously slow at making calls and spends more time talking to the rest of the crew to figure things out than any other ref, which is a horrible combination for a late night game. He probably added 20 minutes to the game just due to his general confusion and slow communication with his crew. Hopefully retirement is in his near future.

As soon as I saw who the head ref was I said to the wife: "OMG, not THAT idiot!"

I know this thread is about how bad and infuriating the refs were, but I'd like to take this opportunity to say "WOW!!" (again) about the catch by Bolden. I knew it was good when it happened live but then when I saw the replay on the big screen I was astounded. I was saying to the people around me, "DID YOU SEE THAT?!!". Amazing catch and amazing that the refs might not have thrown a flag on it if it had been incomplete.

Would also like to add this one - seeing as how over the years we've been tagged with some weak celebration penalties, yet this one was ok?

I didn't see this discussed anywhere else but this seems to be the appropriate thread... I was frustrated with some of the ball spots we were getting. The worst I think was on our final drive when we turned it over on downs; on our second down play (I think) it looked like we had the first down, and the ref on the other side of the field even marked it correctly, then the ref spotting the ball pulls it a yard back. I know I wasn't imagining it because the crowd erupted in boos; I assume over the spot. I was screaming for a challenge that never came (you can challenge spots in college right?). Did the announcers on TV make any mention of it?

The linesman on the WSU side of the field was WAY short on that spot on the 2nd down play. That was the spot that needed to be challenged.

There was no flag thrown on this play for pass interference: Good. It just would have slowed the game down. There were a host of very bad calls. This one is not the end-all one, in my opinion.
