Source: Dave Baldwin (today). Collins embracing the permanent move to his new position (not simply just playing it for the CW). Let's hope he has some good hands. Those seem to be pretty scarce as of late. Will be looking forward to seeing him in the spring running routes ala James.

Sad really. I was really looking forward to his development at QB.

Sad really. I was really looking forward to his development at QB. I'm thinking the fly sweep may become the fly option.

I get the sense that the coaches are going to use every single trick play they know in this game. It's either going to be amazing or embarrassing. Probably both.

He has no future long term at QB.... accepting move to WR would be smart.

I am not surprised to see Seth being moved to wide out. I had suggested that he might in a earlier post (next year, oct 28th ). He is an exciting prospect at wide out given his size, speed and elusiveness. Any time we can get the ball in his hands in space should be exciting. Our qb play this year has been abysmal, but not unexpected given the talent we had going in. Garretson gives us a chance of some consistency at the qb spot next year. Moran, from Chandler Az, was pretty exciting in his senior year. He did throw a couple of costly picks in the quarterfinals that ultimately provided a earlier than expected exit from the playoffs, maybe a redshirt next year? We may need to try to find a JUCO qb for backup next season. I still have faith that our coaching staff will turn around our program, but I also believe that it is going to be an exercise in patience. Meanwhile..... GO BEAVS! ftd

He has no future long term at QB.... accepting move to WR would be smart. Until OSU has any QBS he's probably in the mix. He led the team environment pretty much every statistical measure a QB can have. Pass percentage, YPA, TD/INT ratio, QB rating, WINS, and he can run. Hopefully he has no future as a QB. So far we got nothing else.

...and another random dart from the coaching staff flies through the air...

So far we've only really seen McMariyon in mop up duty, and briefly vs. Weber and SJSU. The pick 6 he threw vs. SJSU wasn't great, but also think it was a terrible play call backed up to our own end zone to run a screen. Sounds like he gets the entire first quarter for sure Friday. Curious to see what he can do with it.

...and another random dart from the coaching staff flies through the air... I don't know if it is so random, GA's starting QB at Wisconsin last year is playing wide receiver this year, so it looks like he pretty consistently picks wide receivers as his QB.

I'm not quite sure what to make of this move. Of the three quarterbacks that are eligible to play this year, Seth has the most upside and gives us the best chance to win.
It was only a few months ago that announcers on espn and people on this message board were raving about the potential Seth had to become a great weapon at QB over the next 4 years. I was disappointed, like many of you, with the lack of development throughout the first half of the season. it was clear that he was struggling to make routine throws and good decisions on the zone read. But the kid was given half of a season to figure it all out. And I haven't seen anything better from the other quarterbacks.
I have to assume this means the coaching staff is very confident moving forward with Garretson because if their plan is to develop McMaryion or Mitchell then we are in for a rough couple of years (I know everyone is high on Moran, and I am too, but he's not going to be the savior straight out of high school).
For now, I'm going to trust that the coaches know what they're doing. But I don't understand this move. Seth could make a great wide out but he's our best eligible QB right now and that seems a much higher priority than adding another WR to the mix.

I really won't be surprised if we see Collins take a few snaps, if M & M struggle what do we have to lose?

You're right. We had the pick 6 vs. SJSU
