1. The team should not go into the locker room at halftime; just tell the team it is an extra long TV time out. Nothing else seems to be working.
2. In so many ways this feels the same as the switch from Dee Andros to Fertig. Both Andros and Riley were good and had faded. This will be our 4th losing season. Also, recruiting did not get the bump that usually happens with a new staff. Give CGA credit, he has changed the perception of our football program from moderate to crappy.
3. I am beginning to feel that Nall should not be our starting running back. Yes, when he breaks one he can take it to the house. However, with our line, I think a rb that has the ability make quicker cut backs will have more success. Too many times, he is slowed before he gets going. I rather have a running back that gets 3-5 yards consistently.
4. Does our offense seem like a new version of the June Taylor dancers.... 1-2-3--Kick
5. I do not understand where the thought comes from that we have good receivers. None of them can get off the line of scrimmage. I can not imagine what goes through our QB's mind when they receive the snap and the receivers are playing "patty-cake" with the DB's.
6. When did we forget how to run a standard screen play? Or a QB draw. Mis-direction plays do not have to be complicated to have some effect.
7. DG demonstrated why he was not the starting QB.
8. How many flippin combinations have we used in our secondary?? I think we have used 5-6 safeties and I lost count of how many cornerbacks we have used. What ever happened to the stud 4* (Wallace) corner?
9. I get the feeling that we are going to have a high number of transfers out after this season. I think there is talent on this team, but somewhere between the sidelines and the playing field it is lost.
10. If you can't upgrade the recruiting, even the best coaches are going to lose in college. There just is not enough practice time to develop and execute a different game plan for every opponent.
11. Until yesterday, I could not imagine a scenario when the Head Coach does not know when one of his starters doesn't start; let alone play in the game. Maybe the "Don't Know" was meant to be "No Comment", but then to add "ask the coordinator". What wasn't said is speaking volumes.
12. It would not surprise me if CGA fires half his staff. It might be the only way to inject some new enthusiasm into the Valley Center.
