I only listened to a few minutes of the USC game, and according to Mike Parker during that time there were TWO dropped TD passes.
One by Hodgins (after the USC QB fumbled the snap) and one by Tuli Wily-Matagi (I think). Anyways, for those who actually saw the game, how egregious were the drops? Did DG throw good passes or was Mike Parker spinning a bad pass to an open receiver?
This follows the UW game which featured at least three dropped first down balls as well (All three right in the receiver's hands), and the first few games of last year when Bolden and Villy were dropping everything...
So... What does DG do differently on his passes? Too much velocity? A weird spin? Too much stickum? Are his hands super sweaty? At this point we have seen enough of DG's passes dropped that it feel systematic...

Wily-Matagi was crossing from left to right in back of endzone, Garretson put it behind him and he had to dive back to grab it. Would have been a pretty sensational catch. Plus he was wide open so that hurt. Hodgins was basically a jumpball down the sideline, he had control until he hit the ground. Announcers questioned why we didn't challenge, but IMO we would have lost the challenge. Was a nice deep ball by Garretson, one of those 50/50 balls that yeah we need to come down with it, but it's not exactly easy...

Hodgins lost the ball when he hit the ground hard. It's one of those catches that good players make, and true freshmen do not. It was actually a pretty good throw, better than a 50/50 ball IMO.
Wily-Matagi was wide open in the end zone and DG threw it behind him. I think he got two fingers on it. Definitely not a "drop".

He got 2 feet down AND had the ball when he landed on his back, he lost it when the DB fell on him. Should have been a TD!

He absolutely did NOT meet the requirements for a "catch" in the current interpretation of the rules.
