Hopefully, no big deal..... Violent Conduct, misdemeanor: No person shall intentionally cause public inconvenience, annoyance, or alarm or recklessly create a risk thereof by engaging in fighting or behaving in a violent, tumultuous, or threatening manner. Still subject to University action.

There was a HUGE party (well a bunch of huge parties) that I saw a bunch of the football players at and was busted by the cops, and the cops were out in FORCE over the weekend. They tripled the cops and were paying them overtime so you know they were motivated. Driving around campus saturday night there were lights flashing and kid on the ground everywhere. Hopefully he at least didn't have the embarrassment of being cited by one of the ridiculous looking bike cops... Not excusing bad behavior, but Corvallis is notorious for finding bad behavior where there is none...

A small town in Oregon populated with a bunch of frustrated cops that are the equivalent of glorified mall cops - looking to make a name for themselves and generate revenue - to quote Pete Carroll when the USC sanctions were announced - "I am shocked" Edit - Because we know they always get it right - like in Luke Heimlich's situation (I know Benton County vs. CPD - point still remains)

Live around Corvallis long enough and you have your own CPD horror story. I have mine. curiosity formally piqued. Seriously! Do Tell atownbeaver! Mine only involve being pulled over for ridiculous reasons (License plate light out, "Over turning" [still not sure what that is], and the always specious "we got a call you were XXX") as an excuse to check if I am drunk (Hazards of driving a red truck as a teenaged male...), and being forced to sit on a bumper, in front of my mortified girlfriend, even though I was obviously and 100% sober...

I got a ticket by the CPD on my bicycle once in 1968. Ran the red light at Monroe and 14th.

Live around Corvallis long enough and you have your own CPD horror story. I have mine. curiosity formally piqued. I have lame but still annoying tales of being harassed because I committed the crime of being a college kid: 1. ticket on Christmas day for a headlight being out. I passed an Albany PD, and a state trooper on my way back from Albany to Corvallis who left me alone, but the CPD cop flipped a u-turn to pull me over when on the hwy 34 bypass to south Corvallis. I asked just where in the world was I going to get a headlight bulb on Christmas day, he responded "not my problem". 2. a group of 4 of us left Shari's at 2 am or so, immediately pulled over after leaving the lot, with the reason being I stopped on the sidewalk when exiting the parking lot. Proceeded to sniff everybody for booze, ID the entire car and field sobriety test me when my ID showed I was only 19. I suppose I was fortunate it was not the notorious officer Cox. 3. From the wife: She pulled into a Corvallis cul-de-sac to return a carpet cleaner we borrowed when moving. there was a cop sitting in the cul-de-sac. just idling in his car. My wife pulled in behind our friend's car in the driveway, left her car running, pulled the cleaner out and brought it up to her, stayed no longer than a few minutes chatting on the front porch. when she got back to the car, she had a ticket on the window for blocking the sidewalk. 4. Got a ticket for parking on the grass... I had one front wheel about one half off the driveway onto the lawn. like, 6 inches of rubber were on the lawn. I took pictures, but the court judge didn't waive the ticket. he ask how did he know I didn't move my car and take a photo. 5. I lived in some apartments just south of Reser. My roommates and I would have a habit of walking across campus to the superette market on Monroe street late at night. About one trip in 3, a CPD would be parked somewhere on Monroe and roll on us. card everybody, inspect any bag we had and check out our crappy superette deli hogie or whatever garbage we bought. 6. pulled over at night randomly several times in Corvallis for a wide range of made up bulls%#t "license plate light is out", "didn't signal early enough", "you were drifting in your lane". Every time it was long enough to look at my eyes and generally sniff the inside of my car before going. 7. one of the probably thousands of people caught by the cop that sits at the chinese restaurant parking lot on the incoming bridge nailed for going some marginal amount over 25 down the ramp. If memory serves, I was doing 31... 8. one of probably thousands of people caught by the cop that sits by papa's pizza and nails people dropping off the south Corvallis ramp. I was harassed by police more in 2 years of living in Corvallis than I have been in 33 years living in Albany. To my general recollection, I was pulled over or ticketed by CPD a minimum of 10 times in 2 years living there. I can recall only a single time being pulled over by APD in those 30 odd years... and that was me actually running a stop sign! I didn't even get a ticket! Long story short, Corvallis will hit you for the petty stuff ever time. Other places don't.

After being hit with the License plate light being out trick more than once, one time CPD pulled me over and said it again, I asked them if I could inspect the light. They went, "uhhhhhhh, sure" I got out, walked back to my light and sure enough it was on. I asked what was up. They said, well it is pretty dim... basically if you are driving around at night, and you look like a kid, they are checking you out.

I'm not saying there is a connection, but was there even one single incident of unlawful activity by a football player while Gary Andersen was in charge? Two weeks after he leaves, our guys start showing up in blotters again?
Gary was not a good football coach, but he seemed to have the off the field stuff locked down. Good grades, community service, no run-ins with the law......

Violent conduct definition sounds like my behavior at any sporting event when we play the Ucks! Just ask my wife!
