Even if he was a serious candidate, with that history lesson from our resident historian, Wilky, the discussion should end right there. I feel like a sooth sayer when I said in an earlier thread there was no way I wanted the weasel for a coach. Even texted my buddy who sits in my section at Reser and said that if they hire the weasel - my season tickets are gone. If even HALF of what Wilky has posted is true (I am sure it all is), he and Bo Pelini should go get a room together

But on the plus side, he did run a fake punt play, with a big lead over Bellotti's ducks, in the '96 Cotton Bowl, to run up the score. MB.

Regarding Stevens, he later went on to marry US Goalkeeper (No)Hope Solo. And that's all you need to know about her.

I think wilky should be moved to junior status on 'words typed'... very impressive, especially if it was on the phone.

Seize the Weasel!
I'm hoping we can do better, especially after reading the earlier dirty laundry list. I can still think of mentioned candidates I'd rather not have though.

Allow me to play a bit of devil's advocate here:
As wilky stated above, the lawsuits from the 2000 season started in 2003....and as we've seen with the Brenda Tracy deal, the modus operandi among college coaches at the time was to not suspend until there was a conviction. Clearly times have changed, and I have no doubt that Neuheisel would've have suspended most or all of those guys if the same thing happened in 2017.
Lying to your boss about interviewing for a new job and participating in a march madness pool are about the dumbest reasons for firing someone of all time. The "loophole" that he found regarding the March Madness pool was a memo from the compliance office that mistakenly told athletic department employees it was ok to participate. Futhermore, I always thought the deal with not allowing people in athletic departments to gamble on things like that was because of "insider information" that could potentially aid in making correct picks. UW did not make the tournament in any year Neuheisel was at the school, which would sort of negate any sort of intel he could've received.
The Colorado deal.....he gave players $40? What a criminal mastermind!
I saw someone say he must not be that good of a recruiter if he lost Brandin Cooks to Oregon State, but then again, he had Brandin Cooks committed at one point. Cooks didn't even receive offers from most of the upper tier of the Pac-12. Also landed Brett Hundley and resisted the urge to play him as a true freshman when he had a couple of crummy qbs named Kevin Prince and Richard Brehaut. That 2011 year, they finished 6-7 with losses to Houston, Texas, Stanford, USC, and Oregon, all of whom were ranked in the top 25. Four of those games were on the road. It's not like they were terrible. Also, it's not like UCLA is awesome now, or was before Neuheisel got there.
I'm not saying he's not a dick.....rich, good looking, smart sons of lawyers typically are, right? I just think he's a good football coach that is begging for a chance and might be willing to work for less than market value. It's not a terrible idea.

If he was in Corvallis today he missed Barnes, who is on the charter to Berkeley. IF they were to meet, far better to do it in some Bay Area hotel. That said, this whole thing smells like Canzano promoting clicks and Neuheisel promoting himself.
