I could get behind this. CJS had some productive QBs at Idaho.

My one concern is why was he the co-offensive coordinator the last two years after being the guy for the first three.

ESPN Adam Rittenberg also reporting, so I think it’s solid. Nice find geuse!
Anyone know much about him? It looks like he was the play caller on offense for the Buffs the last two years. CU has been able to put up a lot of points. Young’s guy, only 37. Not sure if he will coach QB. Wonder if CJS will do that?
Mac must be going crazy after losing Leavitt last year And now his playcaller.

My knee jerk response (I really don't know anything about him) -
1) Already knows the conference (and that's already a leg up over the previous staff in that respect)
2) comes from outside the Beaver family - I like this, I didn't want us to fill up the staff with ex-Beavs just for the sake of having ex-Beavs.
3) Looks like he's been responsible for recruiting California according to an older article I found.. I'd love for us to hit California hard from here on out.

Buffs generally had a pretty good run-pass balance. also, guys, we poached a Pac-12 program coordinator. Little ol' OSU stole a guy in a lateral move. We should give each other a hardy high-five.

My one concern is why was he the co-offensive coordinator the last two years after being the guy for the first three. My take on this is it is becoming common place in college football to have 2 coordinators especially on offense. This gives the head coach much more leverage in retaining and obtaining coaches. You can promote 2 coaches to the coordinator title and twice as many coaches can claim this title when seeking to become a head coach or high paid coordinator.

Plus, I look at who was the playcaller between the two. By all accounts I have seen, it was Lindgren. So was CJS when he was at UW.

A lot of schools are also using the Co- titles as leverage to retain and pay their staff slightly above normal position coaches. Just like at UW where Lubick was CO-OC, yet Jawnathawn called all the plays and ran the offense.

People make too much of the Co- title. and quite frankly, again, this stuff was the job of the search firm. To find out who really did what. We made a big to-do about Tedford hovering around JS all the time, apparently JS was always the play caller, and Tedford rarely had any input. Tedford pretty much was there just for Petersen, not as a babysitter to Smith. Heck, he wasn't even apparently allowed to be at practice from what I heard. Lindgren had a good 2016, and a down 2017. Good coaches don't just look at the stats but at the why and the whole deal. Lindgren was the first QB Smith coached as a professional. so that is kind of cool.

I don't know all of these guys, but I know the Alumni... this would be a very young staff no? I love Keith Heyward, but is he ready to be DC? I'd actually lean toward Hall for DC based on experience... but I'm more concerned that JS needs to surround himself with some seasoned coaches.

No way does Hall have anywhere near Keith's experience and in no way is he ready for that gig.
Keith is.
Korey Hall was a grad assistant 2 years ago. He played in the NFL sure, and he seems to be a players coach but he wasn't even coaching the entire secondary, he was only coaching the corners. And the Oregon State gig was his first P5 job.
Keith it would be his first gig as a coordinator as well, but his resume stacks up much better. He was a GA for a P5 school during the 05-06 seasons, he coached at Cal-Poly SLO and he's been a P5 coach ever since. He was the passing game defensive coordinator (so a quasi co-DC if you will) for 2 years at SC. Spent one year as a hired gun at Oregon coaching secondary because he's a stellar recruiter.

Coachingwise Keith Heyward has a lot more experience than Hall ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Heyward). Heyward is also one of the top recruiters in the PAC-12. Hall is more experienced as a player and probably can grow into a good recruiter as well, but KH would be a very good hire.
