I can’t believe how much I hang on every “announcement”. You’d think that I’d have learned to remain non-committal to news until it’s been officially announced by our athletic dept. So far, most news has been at worst fake news, or at best purely speculative in nature. I know that we get on baseball1111 for comments like “they are verbals, and I won’t get excited until they have signed” (paraphrased), but I think that I’d better adopt more of that approach here. The faithful in Beaver Nation are starving for GOOD news of any kind surrounding our football program. Now that we know who our coach is and we’re mostly either ecstatic or at least very intrigued, my obsession has become the identities of JS’s assistants. Right now, the most annoying phrase is something along the lines of “a source that is close to the team.....”

Right now, the most annoying phrase is something along the lines of “a source that is close to the team.....” IMHO... worse than that are the fans of the JS hire who then show no respect for his hires (supposed or otherwise) or the ability for him to relate and be "in charge" of his staff. Many coaches make hires that don't "fit", but they actually have to be on staff and work together before that is ever known. I mean is he a good choice or not guys? Do you trust JS is HC material? If yes, then let him succeed or fail. Can't have it one way and not the other.

Exactly. He may hire some names we even think are awesome. But maybe it doesn’t turn out well. s%#take or whatever his name is at BYU currently, was seen as a major get. How did that turn out? A wait and see approach is probably what’s best. I mean it’s fun to speculate, but w this many moving pieces it’s impossible to know this soon how great the decisions are yet

We just don't trust people like you pushing the fake news on Riley because you want him back. Get off your ivory tower regarding people "questioning" JS. We question people like you who are are not informed and pretend to be so connected to the program. If somone wants to discuss the merits of a potential hire that is "good" in a non communist country. It's hysterical we should show "respect for supposed hires". Really, some clown with an agenda who published fake photos and we can't question the supposed hires. Get a life brother. WLP commenting is now "pushing fake news"... you watch far too much TV. Doesn't take an "ivory tower" to point out hypocrisy... if you trust JS than there is no need to comment on the matter. As sharing all the negative about MR or the complete BS of fans would want MR back if JS has a slow start... or MR would back stab, undermine... or JS would be intimidated by MR being on staff... those are the true FAKE news items. Stated without one shred of evidence that anything of the like has EVER been part of either man's personality. In fact, in MR's case completely flies in the face of his most consistent criticism... too loyal! Ya see that crap is completely made up. The staffing issue is rumor, and although it could end up be false as there are two sides that ultimately have ok the situation. I will also tell you there is more involved that just JS and MR. There are several other staffing possibilities that could affect MR's role on the coaching staff or on the non-football staff. It is just not some fabrication out of the blue like how MR or JS might interact with one another. You and your over exaggerations... "communist"... "agenda"... you're all in on conspiracies... LMAO. You can comment all you want... but trusting requires respect... including who JS may or may not hire. As for "pretend to be so connected"... I've had friends in the AD's and other departments for many years. I've sent players on to OSU and have had the coach/recruit relationship... I've got friends who currently scout and those who have since retired... I've coached with and connected with former OSU coaches. I don't need to pretend and it is not something that makes me any better or worse than the next fan. I do get to hear some things before others. Those involved know I post here... and I would never divulge anything that would taint our relationship. What I share is generally very general, and very often "general" is all I know. And... "brother" I have a WONDERFUL life... one that would piss a pretentious mouth breather off. As Robin Williams once said, "I'm sorry, if you were right, I'd agree with you."

Well, I am pretty new here. Not interested in participating in any posturing. What I see are fans who post with solid knowledge of the game, fans who post with emotion, and fans who like controversy, rumor, whispers, arguing and assumption. The mix of all makes it pretty interesting, if not frustrating at times. I dont know BB1111, but he comes across to me as someone who is connected with the sport, and not in just a mouthy fan way. I appreciate that type of poster, but it is clear that some do not.
Who is anyone? You all dont know me. I have what....less than 200 posts. Big deal. Am I am expert? s%#t no. Would it make a difference if I said I have posted over 100k posts on sports sites since 1995 and have moderated pro boards for an NFL team? It shouldn't. But by mentioning it, I might come across as high and mighty. I was certainly accused of it many times as a moderator. But what I have learned is that once a member has spent years with anything, and perhaps 1111 has, that they get tired of some who have little invested other than opinion...and perhaps not an educated opinion. I see 1111 trying to educate from a place of knowledge, and if one doesn't have that depth of connection, then it can feel like confrontation. I personally do not see it as such.
I find it funny that fans cry of their right to an opinion, but then get angry with an opinion on their opinion. I dont agree with the hateful side of fandom. Never have. Either support, or go the **** away. That is my view, but I dont have the right to make things my way. So, after 20 years of posting, I have learned to appreciate those who know more than me, give my strong opinion when I feel it is important, but most of all, I pick my battles.
My 2 cents.

I'm not going to like this post... cuz you mention me in a positive light, and there are some on this site that will... - think you and I are one in the same - accuse you of taking a bribe or being related, or a friend - call you crazy... or worse But, not because of your content, which is pretty true of every message board. And, well written. Screw it... thumbs up. 😎

No office/library... no leather bound editions... pretty sure no mahogany in my house. So, is that what a wonderful life means to you? Lol If Mr. Baseball is so well connected to our program it may explain where we are right now. Maybe you should step aside from your recruiting efforts, might see an uptick in the talent we have coming in. Of course, if you have made any of the tremendous contributions you pride your self in, I'm sure beaver nation would kneel before your greatness. It always amuses me that 1111 attracts the biggest douches for stalkers.

They are as you describe of course, but my replying gives them some weird sense entitlement. Plus, composing a quip of any kind, in and of itself shows I must care at some level to be responding. Hence, APATHY is the key. I apologize for the unintentional promotion of douche bag "stalkers"/"DBS" (stalkerazzi without the pix). And promise to try and curtail said "baiting" (but, catch and release is so much fun) and practice more apathy toward some (self described) Beaver fans.

I'd be interested to see a Benny's House breakdown on what percentage of posts are just people calling Baseba1111 an ass and him saying "nuh-uh, you're the ass!" 10% maybe?

I'd be interested to see a Benny's House breakdown on what percentage of posts are just people calling Baseba1111 an ass and him saying "nuh-uh, you're the ass!" 10% maybe? More... "tag your it"... and earlier on it was always "arse"... thought "ass" would get edited! But, just a warning! You are in the "wlpatrick" ballpark of exaggeration (DON'T DO IT!) as I have only about 5.7% of all posts and not near half are "appraisals" of other's well being. So, that would mean roughly about 8.4% of all other posts would have to be in that category. Take out the "DBS" crew and it isn't even at 1%.
