Well its clear this site is not a representation of Beaver Nation (for better or worse). Kinda fascinating actually. (I'm a No) This board is full of long, self-righteousness bloviating. But this post has to be one of the worst, baseless assuming boasts I've read here. Especially after several point out numerous Beavers, sites, friends, co-workers all in favor. Haters hate no matter the evidence.

From the Tribune...Riley had two other offers to coach with Power Five schools, "and I almost took one of them," he said. "This deal came up in just the nick of time. I had to tell both (schools), 'I have to do this. I have to do it because of my feelings for Jonathan, for Oregon State, and because of my wife, my daughter and my grandkids.'"...
Prepare for the narrative of how Riley sacrificed to help the poor little school that has so much going against it. No airport, half finished stadium, town with no night life. The worst part of Riley is being told how grateful we should be as this great man shows us a little love. If Riley said "I wanted to do this, I love the university and community. I want to see Jonathan be successful and am willing to do whatever it takes" then I would be happier about the hire. Semantics? maybe.I don't necessarily dislike Mike, just dislike being told by the media that it isn't Mike it is the University's fault he wasn't more successful
You see I want to think of OSU as the pretty girl people want to be with, not the chubby awkward girl with the great personality. Maybe that is who we are, I just don't want to believe it. I want someone that wants to be here.
Now the school to the south is that nasty, foul-mouthed, skank that has had a bunch of cosmetic surgery. They tell you how pretty they are but inside they are still that nasty skank.

Well its clear this site is not a representation of Beaver Nation (for better or worse). Kinda fascinating actually. (I'm a No) I actually laughed out loud at this. How do you know this is not a representation of Beaver Nation? because you and your social group has a different opinion? What makes that a better representation of Beaver Nation? Is it from comments on other social media platforms? What makes any of them a better representation? In Justjay's defense, I've seen a good number of negative comments from Beaver fans, whether it be Facebook, twitter, etc. (and I'm not counting the dregs that are AngryBeavs site or any O-Live comments). Is it a "true" representation of Beaver Nation? I really have no idea. I do think that this board is a lot stronger Pro-Riley than the casual fan and I also think we naturally tend to migrate toward places with like-minded views for the most part (there are plenty of angry Beavs over at AngryBeavs.com). Anyhow - and I'm pro-Riley on the staff - I was quite surprised at the poll results.

The poll is Riley on the staff, not Riley walks on water. We have some drama queens on the board.

Just a thought, but perhaps the use of the words "Have to do this", was because he had already been talking as if he was taking one of their jobs and was backing out for the perfect way to end his coaching career.

Just a simple yes or no question. No explanations, hedging, or qualifications... Do you like MR back on staff, yes or no. Trying to get a feel for if this is a 50-50 situation, or if a vocal minority is making one side sound louder than it is. My happiness is not defined by OSU FB coaching staff decisions. So I don't really care. What's important is what JS thinks, not what I think.

Coach Smith is about to be on the Joe Beaver Show (JBS), maybe he will do some splain'n that will calm the waves in the waters for a few people who seem to think that our program is self-destructing before our eyes - but that has already happened this year once....

JS is a father of three young kids. Having Riles around to help with football 'stuff' is a great move.
And no, not too watch the kids.
