So, uh, you're a Pollyanna it seems. Questioning our new coach re bringing in a former head coach who recently departed 2 wrecked programs, including our own, is not treason Please explain the benefit of questioning the HC's hires? What do you expect to come of it? Do you believe it will make him reconsider? If not, then of what value is it to call into question JS's decision making. Do you think if enough people did that it boosts his chance of succeeding, or cracks the door of doubt just a little? FACT: Coach Smith has spoken. He's made the decision and it's not changing. FACT: To not support it at this point, is to not support the Beaver Head Football Coach. Simple as that. FACT: Either you do not know what "wrecked" means, or how to asses culpability. Maybe both. Embrace the new direction of Beaver Football. The last three years of ineptitude are behind us. New AD, new HC, great new assistants, and a bright new beginning. Please join along in welcoming and supporting Johnathan Smith and the plan he has for the success of this program going forwards.

I cannot believe some people actually think OSU would be lucky to get Banker and Riley back.. Classic mediocre thinking from Beaver Nation I guess.

For the life of me, I cannot believe that after three years of going 7-29, no road wins, losing 69-10 to the Ducks, numerous high profile players transferring or little used players transferring and having big success elsewhere, we're still talking about Riley and Banker making us mediocre or "wrecking" the program.
But hey, at least Gary Andersen didn't lose to an FCS team. Now THAT would've been embarrassing.

I think its funny that posters are on a message board which by its very nature is somewhere people come to debate/discuss a particular topic and telling people that certain topics related to the main theme of the board should be off limits.

2014: (3)Oregon 47 - Oregon State 19 2013:(12)Oregon 36 - Oregon State 35 2012: (5)Oregon 48 - (16) Oregon State 24 2011: (9)Oregon 49 - Oregon State 21 2010: (1)Oregon 37 - Oregon State 20 2009: (7)Oregon 37 - (13)Oregon State 33 2008:(19)Oregon 65 - (17)Oregon State 38 2007: Oregon State 38 - (18)Oregon 31 2006: Oregon State 30 - Oregon 28 2005:(10)Oregon 56 - Oregon State 14 2004: Oregon State 50 - Oregon 21 2003: Oregon 34 - Oregon State 20
1998: Oregon State 44 - (15) Oregon 41 1997: Oregon 48 - Oregon State 30
To recap - in 14 seasons as coach, Riley-led teams faced an unranked Ducks team only four times. During the 8 season losing streak, Oregon was never unranked. Only once was Oregon State the higher ranked team. I'm not sure what the average college football record vs. a ranked team is....but I'll bet it's not much more than 25% or so.

You do understand that being lower ranked than Oregon for all that time doesn't exactly make Riley look better right? Last time I checked the job of a HC at OSU is to be higher ranked/better than your opponents. At the very least you should be higher ranked/better more than once every fourteen years. But maybe I have those expectations wrong?

Since when is questioning the guy in charge off limits? I didn't realize this was Soviet Russia. I'll get on the first train to the gulag. My bad. Pfft.

What is irrational are your expectations for the program. Oregon State has been ranked in the top ten twice in the past 40 years or so, and y’all expect that on a yearly basis.

Yah i see how you could understandably want everyone to be on board with this however with that being said you cant control this. If you could do that than we should all be very afraid about the direction our nation is going in (i personally am already worried). We should respect each individuals right to their own opinions. If we didnt have deferring opinions life would not be very interesting plus we would not make much progress 😃

I find it funny some believe people shoudn't be allowed to be critical. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Adios, Siberia's calling.
