This is one of the most exciting times for Beaver Football in many years. We have a Head Coach who checks almost every box of qualifications it will take to produce consistent success in Corvallis.
Has a vision? Check Has the know how to accomplish said vision? Check Has a passion for Corvallis, OSU, and Beaver Football? Check, Check, and Check Has the connections and ability to find and hire great assistant coaches? Check, Check, and Check(He's already doing it)
Knows X's and O's? Check Is a teacher of the game? Check (just listen to every QB he's coached talk about him if you doubt this) Is a winner? CHECK Man of integrity? Check Has charisma? Check A leader? Check (again if you doubt this listen to what his former teammates and players say, there's not doubt)
Can sell this program to recruits, assistants, boosters, fans, and students? Everything looks points to yes so far.
So those of us who are rational and logical look at this and are excited, optimistic, and want to do everything we can to help in any way we can including building and sustaining a positive united fan culture to back him up.
Those who are not, if they are truly Beaver fans, by definition are acting irrational. They are irrational because the overriding goal should be to see our Head Coach and program succeed. Engaging in activity like attempts to question and undermine the Head Coach's credibility and decision making is counterproductive to reaching said goal and therefore an irrational behavior. It's just not logical to undermine your own success....unless you're a duck and don't want to see JS succeed, that's douchbaggery but at least it's rational douchbaggery.
So if you aint helping the cause you're hurting the cause. Either help the cause, go away, or STFU.
Harsh, but needed to be said.

So, wait....Am I to understand that questioning anything Smith or the program does is irrational in your view and hurts the program so anyone doing it needs to STFU?
Yea, that's a rational position to take..........

Nothing said on this board will either help or hurt the cause.
If you looking for rational....you're in the wrong place. This board is full of opinions that have no bearing on the failure or success of the football program.
Also, it's hard to "check" all of your boxes before a Smith team has taken the field.

Actually that's simply incorrect. Greg Schiano lost millions of dollars based on what was said on message boards and other social media. If that's not a significant consequential impact then I don't know what is. These boards do not exist in a vacuum. Prospective recruits and parents read them and rightly or wrongly, what they read shapes their impression. That can also most definitely have an impact which either helps or hurts the cause. Also I'm not looking for rational, I'm seeking to promote it, and it wasn't hard at all to check those boxes, it was easy and accurate.

What happened to Schiano had nothing to do with what someone said on a message board. It was part of public testimony in a court case. It's not like he was outed on social media......it was already a known issue.
Also, your can't call your "box checking" accurate when Smith hasn't even coached a game.
And if anything said on these boards is influencing recruits......I hope they aren't coming here. I want smarter players than that.

Questioning our new coach re bringing in a former head coach who recently departed 2 wrecked programs, including our own, is not treason

I'm going to be civil and realize that you have a different opinion than mine Honest questions, Coach JS hires Mark Banker as the D Coordinator. Or Bob Diaco as the Defensive Coordinator. What do you say? Go Beavs!

According to he majority on this board w should be thankful that Banker, with all of his experience, would be willing to come back and serve as a position coach. Maybe db's or safeties? Banker recruited most of the polys and Hawaiians and we need that. Personally I would prefer Newhouse. Miss his squeaky voice at practices.

Banker has the better rep as a recruiter though.
