As per Moran tweet . I didnt know he wanted to leave the program ? This is a good thing. I really do not want to bash a player.... so I will just say that Collins has always been a polarizing player. He has also had an up and down, and somewhat snake-bitten career here. might be best to get a change of scenery.

Losing his extremely high fist pump to reception ratio (FPtRR) hurts. Someone will need to step up next season. Next man up Trevon Bradford.
Seriously though...best of luck to him, hope he's healthy or gets healthy.

I'm wondering if he's going to pursue the QB thing again. If he's thinking continuing as a WR he's leaving just when a staff that really can teach the craft is coming in. It'd be his loss if he goes elsewhere as a WR.

Probably the best thing for both parties moving forward.
I just got a call from Jonathan Smith asking my family to renew our season tickets. Nice of him to take the time on what must be a busy day.

I wish good luck to Seth, I hope he very successful wherever he goes and whatever position he plays. He was a true loyal Beaver, did everything the coaches asked of him and had terrible luck with illnesses.
Beaver Football wise I am sad to not see him reach his full potential, but I don't see this as a devastating loss... For every amazingly athletic play Seth made he gave it back with a silly emotional outburst or a fundamentally unsound play... I am more interested in the development of Hodgins, Timmy and Bradford. One of the things that QA and staff were bad at, and for me was very annoying, was going with flash and pure athleticism over substance... Sure Seth can jump higher and run faster than, say, Timmy Hernandez, but IMHO Timmy is the much better WR... Sure maybe Seth learns to be a Brandon Cooks level WR and marries freak athleticism with perfect precision... But in the meantime I would rather see Timmy catching footballs for my team... I agree though, if Seth is ever going to learn that precision, this would have been a good coaching staff to learn it under....
Regardless, Good luck, Seth!

Wow, this is a surprise! I loved Seth Collins’ enthusiasm and awesome athletic ability. (And hadn’t heard of any attitude issues). Well, guess this leaves an extra scholarship for CJS to offer. Hope he can find an excellent addition to the team to replace him.

Seth epitomized what I thought Gary Andersen wanted Oregon State to be. Athletic, aggressive, able to beat you multiple ways....I really think if he'd stuck with Seth at QB the last three years would've played out far better than they ended up turning out.
Let's sum up Seth Collins career at OSU:
This college football player is the only player in FBS history to be granted his release from the same school twice. Starting his career as a QB he injured a knee at a time convenient to help him study for a test and think about his attitude after being replaced as a starter. He returned at a new position just in time to become the only wide receiver to catch zero passes but rush for three touchdowns in a game. Following his freshman season he asked for his release from the school, announcing he was going to Northern Illinois to play quarterback again. That never happened, as he stayed at OSU through the rest of the school year and rejoined the football team for fall camp.
His 2016 sophomore campaign was again up and down, seeing him catch 9 passes for 106 yards against Boise State, then catch 5 passes for 45 yards over the next three games combined. His season was ultimately cut short by SPINAL MENINGITIS.
In 2017, he again was hurt, this time with a "finger injury." On August 12th, Coach Andersen said "he'll be fine," and called it "a bit of a tweak." Collins would not play for another month, making his debut against Washington State. He would play two more games before being listed as "out indefintely" with an "undisclosed health issue." That same day, he was seen greeting his teammates getting off the bus wearing this:
He would never play another game for Oregon State again, electing to transfer following the 2017 season. Unless of course he comes back....again....
Final stats Passing: 83-160 (.52%), 935 yds, 6 TD, 4 INT 108.3 QBR Rushing: 128 carries, 619 yds (4.8 avg) 8 TD Receiving: 48 receptions, 548 yards (11.4 avg) 2 TD

Epitomized QA's lust for athleticism over skill/substance, and lack of vision, forethought, and patience. Who DIDN'T think a true freshman 2* QB wasn't going to need some time to mature... so he throws a pick or two and suddenly he is a WR now, smh... Let's sum up Seth Collins career at OSU: This college football player is the only player in FBS history to be granted his release from the same school twice. That same day, he was seen greeting his teammates getting off the bus wearing this: In many ways this makes me sad, Seth had the rare God-given physical talent to excel ANYWHERE on the field, but a combination of QA jerking him around, his own emotional maturity, and some legitimate bad luck with illnesses really derailed him. I hope he moves on, finds a good teacher of whatever position he really wants to play,a nd excels. He would never play another game for Oregon State again, electing to transfer following the 2017 season. Unless of course he comes back....again.... It would be truly Riley-esque
