Probably the best thing for both parties moving forward. I just got a call from Jonathan Smith asking my family to renew our season tickets. Nice of him to take the time on what must be a busy day. A personal call or automated voice message? Unless he had the band in the room with him, it was a robocall. I was just goofing. I certainly don't donate at a high enough level to get a personal call, although I do know him from his 1997-2003 stay at OSU.

Too bad. In the end, he seemed like a kid that had a lot of growing up to do. Had bad luck, but seemed to be his own worst enemy a lot of the time. No question the physical talent is there. If he ever gets it together consistantly, maybe he’ll be a one year wonder somewhere. Too bad it wasn’t with us, but maybe time to move on is best for both parties. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out.

I could see him at San Jose State. I was thinking the exact same thing. Back to his original choice with a familiar face at the helm.

obf - the Riley-esque comment made me chuckle. Well played. When we build Mike Riley a statue in Reser Plaza, it should be him entering a revolving door.

Seth epitomized what I thought Gary Andersen wanted Oregon State to be. Athletic, aggressive, able to beat you multiple ways....I really think if he'd stuck with Seth at QB the last three years would've played out far better than they ended up turning out. Let's sum up Seth Collins career at OSU: This college football player is the only player in FBS history to be granted his release from the same school twice. Starting his career as a QB he injured a knee at a time convenient to help him study for a test and think about his attitude after being replaced as a starter. He returned at a new position just in time to become the only wide receiver to catch zero passes but rush for three touchdowns in a game. Following his freshman season he asked for his release from the school, announcing he was going to Northern Illinois to play quarterback again. That never happened, as he stayed at OSU through the rest of the school year and rejoined the football team for fall camp. His 2016 sophomore campaign was again up and down, seeing him catch 9 passes for 106 yards against Boise State, then catch 5 passes for 45 yards over the next three games combined. His season was ultimately cut short by SPINAL MENINGITIS. In 2017, he again was hurt, this time with a "finger injury." On August 12th, Coach Andersen said "he'll be fine," and called it "a bit of a tweak." Collins would not play for another month, making his debut against Washington State. He would play two more games before being listed as "out indefintely" with an "undisclosed health issue." That same day, he was seen greeting his teammates getting off the bus wearing this: He would never play another game for Oregon State again, electing to transfer following the 2017 season. Unless of course he comes back....again.... Final statsPassing: 83-160 (.52%), 935 yds, 6 TD, 4 INT 108.3 QBR Rushing: 128 carries, 619 yds (4.8 avg) 8 TD Receiving: 48 receptions, 548 yards (11.4 avg) 2 TD The first time I read this, I saw "Low ego, high output" 2 lines below the Final Stats. It was not until the next time Jerkalotopus posted that I realized it was actually his signature. I thought it was a statement about Collins because quite frankly, he was definitely not that during his time here. I'm not saying he's a terrible guy, but the amount of drama that has surrounded him since his arrival is absolutely not consistent with the "low ego" mantra. And while not horrible, there's nothing about the stats that I would consider "high output". I wish no ill-will on him, but I suspect this is in the best interests of Oregon State and won't lose any sleep over it.

beavered - yeah, I had a Gary Andersen quote as my signature prior. Time to move on to a new quote from a new leader. Seth Collins tag lines: "Good on paper" "he hurdled a Weber State guy once" "Oh what now?" "Made a nice pass vs. Michigan"

I like Seth. Wish he would have stuck it out here, I think JS would have found a way to maximize his skillset

hope his problems work out wherever he goes. Maybe he can find some place to get it together and get more out of his seemingly high potential.

L osing his extremely high fist pump to reception ratio (FPtRR) hurts. Someone will need to step up next season. Next man up Trevon Bradford. Seriously though...best of luck to him, hope he's healthy or gets healthy. had to chuckel there. Easy one for ya baseball011.
