lol what? He has 2 to play 1 and would have to sit a year. So he comes, sits a season, and then at best starts for 1 year? This is stupid.

This would mean he has one year of eligibility and could play immediately for a new team. Only catch is he has to major in a graduate program not offered by his current school, UW

He can come in and play right away - would think that there would be some natural recognition that happens since Smith will likely have his fingerprints on the offensive design here. But, if he needs a year to gel with the team, the option would be there as well. He also had 2 seasons where he only appeared in 4 games, without digging too deeply I think that a medical redshirt is maybe possible as well.

Losing out on being the starting QB is not a "medical issue". Good luck trying for that extra year. He was never injured.

He is a RS Junior this year.

I for one hope we can lure a grad-transfer with D-1 experience. The quarterbacks on our roster now, (Luton, and the 2 red shirts recruited by the amazing judges of talent that our former staff possessed) do not leave me with a lot of confidence. Jake, when/if healthy, is serviceable..........after that.....whooooo boy.
Go Beavs!!

Okay, thanks for educating me, I should have realized he might be a grad xfer. However, I still don't think it's a great idea. A one and done player is fine for a team trying to maintain or get over the hump, but we should be developing talent and experience for the long term.

You know what this program needs more then anything?!? Wins & being competitive. If a grad QB brings that then.... hell yes!

Even more than that, the development of other players on the offensive side of the ball is important too. They get to benefit by having a QB familiar with JS running the concepts on offense competently.

This is a no brainer if he wants to come in here and compete. I'd bet in Smith's system, he'll be our best QB

Whatever it takes to get a D-1 win or more, and maybe one on the road. I'm not picky who gets it done.
