Reported on Hawaii News Now this morning. Current coaches leaving for Oregon State:
Legi Suiaunoa - UH Defensive Coordinator
Kefense Hynson - UH Wide Receivers
Couldn't find any other sources, so take it for what its worth.

Interesting - assuming that yoy’re from the Islands judging by your moniker, Kaupale, what do you know about these guys? Connection to JS or Tibesar?

I did notice that Suiaunoa is a big recruiter in America Samoa and has coached at Eatern Oregon, PSU and Montana. Interested to learn more if this is legit.

I’m at work so no time to link, but their profiles on UH looks like they both worked at Montana, but I don’t think they overlapped with CJS tenure there...
Wouldn’t hurt to have some island recruiting connections.

Looks like Jonathan played against Suilaunoa in 1998 and 1999.

So I'm wondering if Suiaunoa is coming in as a DC and this whole Wisconsin coach thing is an error, or are they coming in as co-DCs, or if Suiaunoa is good with being a position coach because he's working with Jonathan and Hawaii paid him crap wages to be a DC.

Hawaii just pays crap for the assistant coaches. They need to change that considering the cost of living in Hawaii. The best figures I could find is a pdf file that shows minimum and maximum salaries set by the state. Max salary for a coordinator is $203,688. My guess is Suiaunoa wasn't making anywhere close to the maximum salary. They were looking for the first chance to move on from Hawaii. Hawaii will never make any strides while paying their assistant coaches non competitive salaries. There is a reason there is high turnover in the Hawaii football program as far as assistants. I can't link the pdf file correctly. If you want to see it just google "University of Hawaii at Manoa assistant football coaches salaries" and it will be the first choice listed. Now, it doesn't say what year it is but I don't think it changes the perception of the low pay of assistant coaches at Hawaii.

After I posted my last post I found a reference to Hawaii's salary pool for assistants in 2017 being just over 1.2 million or so. Tiny on comparison to their competition.

Our new DC. "Games are for players, and practices are for Coaches!"
I like the little bit I see in that short video. I think we have a good one here.
In the few videos I could find Wisky was in a 4-3 alignment on D. It will be interesting to see what our base defense is. While it may be a step back to re-tool to the 4-3, I'm not sure the guys we have can run the 3-4.... time will tell but regardless I hope we see more deception in our defensive alignment and more variable looks. I do think in the Pac 12 you end up playing nickel most of the time... so maybe this isn't as important as we think.

Wisconsin's D has been one of if not the best tackling D's over the past few years. TCU, Boise State, UW are a couple others I have seen who routinely make good open field tackles.
That takes more than just putting an emphasis on it and teaching it. It takes a special kind of teaching and method otherwise good tackling wouldn't be so rare. Outside of hitting a baseball, making consistent open field tackles is one of the hardest skills/talents to master in team sports IMO.
Getting a coach who's not only produced top rated national D's and put LB's in the league, but who's also taken part in and maybe even helped shape/design the methods used to produce some of the best tacklers in the country is an A+ in my book.
