Man that article was a trip. This guy has a lot of confidence for a dude who averaged 1.5 tackles a game three seasons ago at Michigan State and lit up the junior college ranks for 5.5 sacks, good enough for 86th in the NJCAA. I loved the part about the teacher failing him for turning in his math too quickly.

Not sure we want a player that has zero accountability either.

I refuse to believe the kids on PSU’s lines have more natural power and ability than ours. That in itself gives me a bit of hope the same kids we had this year will do better next year now that we have new coaches. Bad year to implement the 4-3 with only two Dlinemen on the roster that are at best serviceable. Though I will argue both Eydon and Vaki have physical talent enough to be quality DTs and are now upperclassmen. AYDON for one.... needs to get in shape and lose some weight. He was embarrassing and ineffective.

Agreed. I think that there is some talent on both lines at OSU that will improve with better coaching. I think that the lines have been the weak link for the past few years and am hoping that the new line coaches will really ramp it up. Frankly, I have more faith in Michalczik than I do Suianoa at this point. I was excited about the coaching hires up until Coach Smith hired the Hawai'ian guys...Now, I'm not quite as sure. Hawai'i has been a weak team in a weak conference as of late and I'm a little concerned that Coach Smith went there to grab two coaches...it's the first thing that I have seen Smith do that makes me a little nervous. Hawaiian coaches are for recruiting connections If they were any good, they wouldn’t be at Hawaii

Dom Capers, June Jones, Ken Niumatalolo, Paul Johnson, Dick Tomey, etc. It's worse now than it's ever been though.. imo. Facilities are crumbling.. hell facilities WERE crumbling when June Jones left and nothing has changed for the better since then for certain.

Facilities are crumbling.. hell facilities WERE crumbling when June Jones left and nothing has changed for the better since then for certain. Crumbling facilities has very little to do with the quality of the coaches, especially the young ones advancing in the ranks. The fact that the Hawaiian government sets limits on assistants pay making Hawaii the lowest compensator in their conference is a bigger problem. Hawaii goes through assistants rapidly because most any opportunity is a step up in pay. Bottom line is Suiaunoa accepted DL coach after being defensive coordinator. It is good we can convince a mountain West coach to come even if the offered position is a demotion. Hawaii paying poorly for assistants makes it easier to draw him away, but it is still good. Kefense on the other hand has no compelling history that shows he is a good get. He is just a decent coach on good trajectory up. I have pretty strong faith Smith caught a good coach before before other major colleges caught on.

Hope you're right, I really do, but there is at least a part of me if the two Hawai'ian hires were Plan J or K...
