As Brennan’s OC. Good riddance. One less buyout. Barnes, add that money to the assistant salary pool.

I can't see how anybody would hire any of our coordinators, ever... their performance was below putrid. But Brennan grabbed him, which leads me to believe Brennan views the failings as not McGiven's fault. Maybe he is in the camp that CGA's incessant meddling was the issue? his overall poor leadership? I dunno. but I do find it interesting.

I dunno. but I do find it interesting. I am MORE THAN WILLING to lay all the blame of last year at Gary "The Quitter" Andersen's feet. All you have to do is look at the REVELATION the offense was in the very next game with Hall at the Helm (36-33 loss to Colo at home). It was like McGiven was given new life. For the first time all season the offense was creative and actually USED all of the immense talent in the backfield. IIRC 4 or 5 different guys took snaps in a Wild Beaver mode, there was pre snap movement and motion like we hadn't seen in the previous 2.5 years, there were plays and sequences of plays we hadn't seen previously. We scored 33 points, racked up a ton of yards and probably should have won the game. Should have won the next one too against stanford, but alas our best player fumbled a simple handoff that probably would have ended the game... Point is, I wouldn't cast too much judgment on any of the coordinators especially on the offensive side of the ball or the players, QA cast THAT BIG of a negative shadow on the entire program. Of course I wouldn't want them anywhere near OUR team again, but it wouldn't surprise me to see McGiven have moderate success at SJSU. And Brennan having been under QA for a year probably has great first hand knowledge of just how badly QA managed his assistants...
