I'm excited to see how this secondary grows in the next couple of years. I think we have some young guys that had 2 take some lumps but also didn't burn some red shirts in some young athletic safeties.
Guys like- Morris, Williams, Irvine, Moore, Wilson, Dunn, Hicks-Onu, Hudson all got valuable playing time
REDSHIRTS: Cotton (21 total offers highlighted by ASU, BYU, Cal, Colorado-visit, Illinois, Nebraska-visit, Memphis, Oregon, San Diego St, UCLA, Utah & Wazzu
Manning Jr (18 total offers highlighted by UCLA de-commit, Boise St, BYU, Fresneck, Hawaii, Iowa St, San Diego St, Utah-visit, Wazzu
Hayes (athletic enough to turn heads as a Scout team QB offers from BYU & Fresneck)
Watson- (10 total offers highlighted by BYU, Colorado, Fresneck, Hawaii, San Diego St, Vandy, Wazzu & Cal late interest
Garnder- (Fresneck and us)
Grant- (good blood lines & had a preferred walk on for us and Seagul U)
The thing I like a ton about all these players are their size & length. All over 6ft, athletic & we have created some depth actually in the secondary. I also didn't even list one of the most intriguing athletes there in Wallace. I've just been excited to see if the rumors are true and we move him to RB.

One thing Anderpants did do well (IMO) is focusing on guys with length.
I liked what I saw of Morris last year, a LOT.

Crawford still has two years as well. Curious to see what happens with Wallace. Seems like he is back in the fold, but you have to wonder if a position change is in store.

Btdguy.... your so right I forgot about Crawford who actually might be our best. The secondary might be a strength for the next couple years which is HUGE in the wild Wild West of the Pac

6-1 220, kinda beefy for a CB. Wallace profiles more as a Big Safety, a light LB or maybe he moves over to the offense and shines as a RB. It always seemed odd to me that he was trying to stick at CB...
Hopefully the new coaches can find a spot where his athletic ability can shine... It would not surprise me at all to see a bunch of guys burst onto the scene as guys who were held back simply because they were in QA's dog house and not because they weren't the best player. That's the feeling I got with the Isaac Garcia saga as well...

We haven't seen corners swap sides of the field to play a boundary/field role but you would think a guy walking around at 220 would be playing boundary corner only, unless he's about 6-4.

That would make sense to me. I haven't watched enough Wiscy film to know if this is a tactic Thibbs has employed before. Walking up a boundary CB as a defacto LB hybrid (or edge pass rusher if you want to blitz) seems like a great idea and a great position for a kid like Wallace to play. If have his job is stepping up to stop the run, a WR screen or rush the passer who cares how good his back pedal is

But what I never understood about Banker's defense is why he had CB's play Left and Right instead of Boundary and Field, especially when he was set up for that year with one corner who was a markedly better cover corner. Edit: To clarify, I'm saying I never grasped the reasoning why Banker chose to have his CB's play left and right.. I'm not intimating that it was a bad decision, I'd just like to understand the nuances of the game that would drive the decision to play his corners that way.

The secondary might be a strength for the next couple years which is HUGE in the wild Wild West of the Pac Considering the debacle that was the Anderson era, he actually brought in a fair amount of corners and safeties that have been good or have a lot of potential. Now they've all been around for two and three years and should start to be productive. Irvine at corner and Hicks Onu at safety are two guys who I think primed to have a big 2018 season. Obviously Morris and Moore at safety too, maybe Shawn Wilson at corner. Enough of the Wallace at corner thing. Put him at RB and let him run people over.

I heard today that he is now a RB.
