Now that spring ball is over do you think we’ll get a new depth chart like most years or is Smiths “everyone is starting from scratch” mantra going to keep that under wraps until fall ball?

I'm not sure a depth chart would be beneficial to the trust factor the staff has been working so hard to establish with the team. A "clean slate" works until fall camp. Then play on the field will probably determine the depth chart.

So, we're going with the 1 Wide Receiver set?

So, we're going with the 1 Wide Receiver set? The format of that article was odd and pretty bad... I assume OLive has just gotten rid of editors at this point? I did enjoy getting a quick blurb about each position group though. For the most part it left me slightly encouraged about all the position groups.... EXCEPT the right side of the offensive line Should would be nice if one of the trio of JC OLineman brought in last year would step up and be pleasant surprises, I am still hoping that Michalczik can sprinkle some magic fairy dust on at least one or two of them

I think Brandel and Lavaka are going to be a decent pair. That LEFT side is hella suspect. Demongeronats, a senior that could never break the rotation... and Moore. Yeah, it is not encouraging Sattlemeier isn't mentioned anywhere.

Well, you will have to take that up with moron and the crappy Olive non-editors because they have Brandel and Lavaka on the Left, which as I understand it is where you want your good pass protection if your QB is right handed (blind side), right? Agree though it was Demongeronats specifically that made me go , "Ewwwwww"

I'm very intrigued with the back end of our defense. Lots of good young secondary kids. Also the LB has some depth. But we need to put pressure on the QB to be successful.

Reading that article I was honestly taken aback by just how much exciting depth we have, especially on the defense (except for Nose Tackle). Probably just the Orange glasses talking, but I am really starting to think we could have a surprising season.... No bowl game or anything, but competitive in most games and a few wins (4 maybe!). I really do believe the TALENT level isn't nearly as bad as last years record would indicate. A little legit coaching and teaching... and who knows!

We have guys that can be a factor on this team. I think all it is going to take is a coach that teaches, directs, instructs and leads... instead of one that just yells at you to run faster and squat more weight. (Kinda like Craig Robinson's infamous "MOVE!" style of coaching from the bench...) One benefit of recruiting based on 40 time and how good they look in big boy pants, is that, well, we DO have some good athletes here. They just need to be taught to play the game. I am cautiously optimistic. We are at rock bottom, and we really need some positive vibes coming in. I don't think it will take too much for Smith to rise the energy back up, get some wins under his belt and get some incoming talent to actually look at us again.

I'm just hoping for a 1998-type season where we show fight in the games that we lose at this point.

If we are 5-7 and we beat the ducks I will run naked in the streets. hide your babies, THIS IS HAPPENING!
