First post here.....from COLUMBUS......
congrats on on the Baseball National Championship. We are proud that a non-SEC team won it. Plus, my wife is a 1992 Oregon State grad. I’m an Ohio State grad who follows the Beavers as well.
The claims against Ohio State fans being over the top obnoxious are extremely dated and plain exaggeration. There was a time about 13 years ago when public drinking was allowed at tailgates and the place was wild that we weren’t such good hosts. I can confidently say that your fans will be glad they came and surprised how well they were treated.
Of course there are jerks in every fan base. We will have 107,000 there and several thousand will be obnoxious.
Regarding Wisconsin and Penn State fans.....those folks have been absolutely brutal toward Ohio State fans. Brutal.
Good luck, travel safely, and look for some friendly Buckeye fans to share a drink before the game.

Man, time flies, doesn’t it? The trauma remains fresh. The 2008 and 2009 Civil Wars were so traumatic that they block out all of the other Civil Wars before them. Not for me...The Civil Wars I remember best: 1988: First win in over a decade. I was a junior, and it was a great day. Goalposts, drinking, etc. 1998: Simonton OT run around the edge for the win@ 2000: Jake Cookus got, like, 17 interceptions and the win propelled the Beavs to the Fiesta Bowl.

My Dad made it to a game at the 'shoe in 2005 and said it was an awesome experience (though he wasn't wearing the away team's colors, which can always change things).

It will be great. Columbus has really grown into a fun city. The Short North and German Village are two good places to hang the days before and after game day. The Columbus Zoo is nationally renowned and worth a visit if you have the time.
It is usually very hot and humid during early season games.....not Baton Rouge hot, but uncomfortable frequently .
If you want a hotel room, start looking now. You may struggle to find one close by.
A game day tradition worth seeing is Skull Session. It’s the marching bamd’s pregame rehearsal with some fanfare and pep rally spirit. It’s held in the old basketball arena , St.John Arena. It’s directly north of Ohio Stadium. Free entry. But you better get there early or the arena will fill up....13,000 seats. No air conditioning.
Or just cruise the block parties along Lane Avenue.....north of the stadium too.
I promise you the stadium and crowd will be impressive. Wear your black and orange proudly. Be sure to remind people tha OSU has won more championships than UO .
