If it's believed that osu has a commit for a 50 million dollar pledge for the West side remodel, only 125 million is left to be raised. We raised 42 million for the VFC expansion.
If we could exceed that, the remaining millions could come from naming rights and money from the university,or bonds sold. We bonded 50-60 million dollars for Raising Reser I. Scott Barnes wants the facility to be a 365 day a year facility. The university would have to help financially to make this important project come to fruition.

I'm assuming the 50 million comes with naming rights. The Resers originally bought in with 10-12 million or thereabouts. Just think, Knight Stadium, you never know.

I don't understand the push to remodel Reser, especially how we can't get half the stadium filled right now. People need to prioritize getting the team out of the dumpster first, and forget about the stadium for a while. Eventually the West side will have to be replaced. Every year we wait the cost of steel and other materials go up. The price tag will be 175 million atleast. Attendance is declining nationwide, but people will go if the product is very good. We have to strike when the iron is hot...we will be very competitive in the next couple years imo. It's about having amenities people want to increase attendance. Recruiting is the lifeblood of your program...we need competitive facilities to compete asap. How do you get better...recruit better players. They want great facilities to believe that a school is committed to winning... Yes, and I'd expect an announcement of some sort late fall, early winter. Wheels are moving but there are a lot of moving parts, not all of which OSU can directly influence. Naming rights won't be an issue. Hopefully the price of steel will go down in Jan. 2021.

If they do complete the stadium it ramps up the pressure on the football program that much more to start winning...soon.. and start putting more butts in the seats. Would finishing the stadium help recruiting? Yes, but only marginally. Players are more interested in the facilities they use directly. You can have the great facilities, but unless you win you will struggle in recruiting relative to your competition .

People don't consume sports the way they used to...television,tablets,phones,etc. it's now about building a stadium that has the amenities your fan base wants, and having pricing to fit high end, students, families, etc. Some of the revenue lost in ticket sales can be made up in increased television money that the Pac-12 could get when the contract runs out in 2024.

For example when Stanford rebuilt their stadium in 2005 it now has less seating capacity (50,000) then the old one (over 80,000). It seems that over the years football games have become more of a "TV show", thus games starting at all hours to fit the TV schedule and ever longer TV commercial breaks.

As he noted, that days of skyrocketing attendance for CFB appear to be over - the key to getting people in the seats now appears to be amenities - and those of us sitting on the west side sure don't have many. I don't care one bit, but not all of us are as focused on the field. We sit between the West side and the Terrace. So, any upgrades to the West Side will probably not affect us. But, I do think with shrinking attendance at stadiums nationwide, we should take advantage of the remodel to add better seating, better amenities, etc. - make it more of a fan friendly experience.
Adding way more Dutch Bros. outlets, rip out all of the existing concessions and set up the concourse on the West Side to accommodate food trucks being pulled straight up the ramp on each side, parking them bumper to bumper. University takes a cut of, say, 20 or 30% off of the top. Foodies and others will be much happier. Also, stop trying to make a killing on each beer, rather make it more reasonable. $10.00 plus for a glass of craft beer is ridiculous. What ever happened to OSU offering unique beer and wines, from our own department within the college? Bring it on!
Point is, make the remaining fans more comfortable, and offer more to entice people to get off their couch!

OLCC rules prohibit OSU from selling the beer it produces. Not sure about the wine.

OLCC rules prohibit OSU from selling the beer it produces. Not sure about the wine. My understanding... far simplified... OSU would have to "sell" it to the State... it would be shipped to Gladstone... repriced... then shipped back to the OSU retailer. It would make the beer 3 times the original costs. Local distilleries are going out of business dealing with the OLCC and it's rules.

Considering the leadership of this state, why am I not surprised................................They have managed to kill, directly or indirectly, many of the good things to come out of this state.
Question - then how did Oregon become the microbrew capital of the country? I get it now - because the beer/ wine will have originated at a "state institution" - totally different set of standards than coming from the private sector - then privatize the beer/ wine production from OSU under what would be a shell corporation - we might as well get some benefit out of the corp. laws

I'm sorry but the AD and The Marketing Departments at OSU both need to get some aggressive and creative TALENT on board, or, you will continue to get the same high school environment to 'enjoy'. 'more cow bell ! ' Scottie
