Players are voting with their feet. Bowl games are an exercise in futility anymore. Maybe we have some intramural players who can suit up. I still like the idea of adding 2 games to the schedule where only players under a certain snap count play. That would.apply to anyone outside the cfp. Get some more money on a home game and you can get experience for the young guys. It would also allow for seniors who can't break the depth chart to get two games in the memory banks.

Sounds like you just recently watched "Rudy." lol
You could say the same about all sports. There are always kids on the bench who don't make it to field or the court. It's part of the game.
The bowl games will continue until the fans stop showing interest. If enough players walk, maybe the fans will too.

Maybe fans will start to regard non cfp or 1/1 bowl games as pre Spring camp precursors to the Spring game. That's the way I look at it now. The other times we played ND we had our full team. This time? Ridiculous. So, just accept it for what it is, which is a chance to check out the newer guys and pick out the ones we think will be important. This also makes it pretty likely that fans will show a lot less interest than formerly and maybe these minor bowls will just disappear.

He’s married, does he have a kid yet? I don’t know. He has hardly abandoned the program, but he’s got a family to take care of, even if it’s “just” his spouse. Hart may be done as well. I can’t blame kids for passing on a bowl game if they’re trying to go pro. You can look at it as just one more game, but it could also be one more opportunity for a career ending injury.

I'm gonna tune in, but if it's a really bad football game, I will likely tune out pretty quick

Personally, I think skipping a game, bowl or otherwise, is lame beyond belief. I cut absolutely zero slack to anybody from any team who does so, and that includes OSU. You see any basketball players skipping March Madness because they might get hurt? Baseball players refusing to compete in Omaha? It's a crock, plain and simple.

It's unfair to D. Garretson but I always saw him as an intramural all-star. Garretson was done a disservice by GAG for coming to Oregon St. He would have been fine staying where he was. He was terrible here but he took a beating and gave it all he had.

I see this as college/OSU is done for them and it's time to get on with life. None of the 3 has been linked to the portal as of yet as far as I know. I'll be bothered if/when any of our team gets a free trip to the Bowl game THEN goes into the portal. That is what I consider to be lame beyond belief, and it's going to happen to a bunch of schools, hopefully not OSU but there are no guarantees. In some respects, I have more respect for the kids who announce they're going to the transfer portal before the Bowl and sit it out.

Individuals opting to not play in any game in any sport are individuals who are quitting their team and abandoning their teammates, plain and simple.

Yea, we had much bigger issues that Garretson. Our defense couldn't stop an 80 year woman running the ball.
