Why is that. Why do we have 5 pages of people pissing their pants about a DL leaving us and absolutely nobody that is in that thread crying a river has anything to say about OSU landing the LSU DL Tygee Hill, rated the #24 DL in the nation as a HS recruit, with 3 years left to play and offers from everybody on the planet?
It is an absolute graveyard over in the recruiting board. Nobody wants to talk about Gabarri Johnson, a QB that was rated within one point of Adian Chiles nor McCoy who largely put Idaho on his back this season?
Everybody wants to cry about losing Bolden nobody has said s%#t about picking up Anderson, a WR rated WAY higher than Bolden ever was. We are crying about losing Tanner Miller but nobody has anything to say about getting the only two competed OL out of Colorado?
We've had a bunch of really good dudes transfer in. Nobody seems to want to talk about that. Why can't we have a conversation, a real conversation for once about what we are getting and not what we lost?
Would ANY of these debbie downers show up for that conversation? I find it doubtful.

Probably because OSU fans have watched and rooted for the ex-Beavers. Meanwhile, those incoming players are unknown to the fan base. I think everyone is excited about getting players like Johnson, Anderson and Hill, etc. But they haven't put on the pads for OSU yet. Wait until the spring. All this stuff should be simmering down and everyone will really start to focus on the 2024 team.

It's easier to complain. We have done very well in the portal, as you indicated. I'm excited to see two mobile QBs, who can escape the pocket and turn a potential sack into a 15-yard gain. Perhaps it was by design but we did not get anywhere near the running production out of DJU that I thought we would.

Would ANY of these debbie downers show up for that conversation? I find it doubtful. I’m excited about the new players and potential of this team. That being said, playing experience is valuable and we are losing a lot of it. Feels like the floor for next year moved from 8 wins to 6 IMO. I don’t the ceiling has changed as we could still win 11 games if everything comes together for these players and coaching staff. I’m thinking it’s more realistic that we finish with 8 wins next year though because the team is so young. Hopefully a new foundation is being built by this staff and they will be able to continue the winning culture and keep their guys around going forward. The future looks bright. I just think the immediate future looks less bright and it’s always easier focus on the negative that it is to just continue being hopeful for the best outcome. I did create that depth chart thread in part to show that the cupboard is not bare. Bray and staff have much more to work with than Smith did when he arrived.

1 returning offensive starter - Martinez, 1 returning defensive starter - Robinson. Special teams returning starters - none. Need some leadership by people that haven't been in that role.

Careful now, there are people here who will call you a sunshine pumper simply because you realize that despite some bad things have happened, there's a bunch of good things happening. By the time it's all said and done, this could be one of our stronger or strongest group of new players coming in.

Because the players leaving are proven starters and the players incoming are complete unknowns. Not much to say except, dope he's a big dude that was a 3*+ and is coming from a huge program.
What else is there to say?
Silas leaving I can recount every game for the last two years of I want.

If one WANTS to be a Beaver we ignore as there is no "evidence" they will help?? Ooops already happened... Wonder if the "unknown" quantity would be celebrated if we'd beaten out LSU when he was coming out of HS?? Yeah... kinda some messed up logic with some.

It has kept many of us from getting pumped up for a new recruit because of that "stove burn". Inside, I'm pretty darned excited about the new youngsters coming in. It's sort like seeing a pregnant lady and wanting to say something nice, but you've been mistaken before... therefore keeping your mouth shut. [Thus the old addage: Never ask a woman if she's pregnant unless you actually see the baby coming out.]

This is true but got me wondering about how many players with starting experience OSU has coming back. I counted regular season games only. So Terry had eight starts last year. It was due to the two-TE set and we all know Velling was the guy, but still. Noble Thomas and Grant Starck both had four starts. Jack Kane had two, Strand and Noga one each. Also, Alton Julian is back and he had five starts in 2021 before his injury and two in 2020, so IMO he's a legit returning starter. And we all know about Ben Gulbranson.
