Well, personally I am a little annoyed that Andersen is getting two and a half million dollars a year to put on a freaking clown show. ... So yeah, little salty over here. Kind of hard to "let the coach coach" when apparently that is the single worse thing we can do for the success of Oregon State football... Hey, I'm annoyed that any football coach gets paid that much. But that's another discussion. Look, I have no problem with people being upset. But we've had dozens of threads with multiple pages shtg on Anderson. And it's the same thing over and over and over ... something else happens and it's Anderson's fault. It used to be Obama that got blamed for everything. 3M leaves and it's Anderson's fault. Geez, Louise, is it possible that 3M, realizing he had to compete -- again [Not a problem as far as I'm concerned -- he isn't Mannion or DA] didn't had it in him. That he started mailing it in? Not saying that's the case; I'm not in The Know like bb1111, but I'd guess that none of us here knows what's going on behind the scenes. CHS lineman passes up OSU, it's Anderson's fault. Doesn't matter that he has issues and we're better off without him. Every prep that decides to go elsewhere did so because Anderson can't recruit. Though, Riley couldn't seem to lock down those 4-stars. Someone doesn't qualify, it's Anderson's fault, despite the fact that Riley had non-qualifiers. THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A GA v. MR THREAD. I using it to illustrate that maybe it's too much. Anderson hasn't done a great job with the QBs. We get it. Anderson's first year [understandably] was crap. His second year was better, but not up to Beaver fan expectations. We get it. Fan favorites have transferred. We get it. Y'all are disappointed. We get it. Let's see how this season goes before we initiated Armageddon. So, let me ask this. If you're the head guy, whether you make 20,000 or 2.5 million (and let's just say for the sake of argument that expectations are higher for the higher priced guy), where exactly does the buck stop? 3M-B ran off. Because he had to compete? Maybe. But why is it such a crime to question GA's QB choices given the historical nature of his selections. Ultimately, GA is the head coach and bears responsibility, good or bad, for that choice. CHS lineman runs off. I would agree, we probably didn't want him given his current history. But maybe we did want him? Whether it's Riley or GA or JS or whomever is coach, we should hold them accountable when the results don't match what we see in recruiting. Many people are paying thousands of dollars for the product. They want to see the product improve. I don't really blame anyone for that. I hardly think this is armageddon message board treatment. People are going to question GA's ability to pick players until they see more results on the field. That point has not arrived yet. A constantly shifting offensive and defensive scheme with rotating QBs...probably a reason for it, but certainly not a typical path to success. So give everyone a break. If you don't like the discussion, don't respond. Don't read. The discussions around Luton (whom all of us have already blatantly stated wish the best of luck) and GA are warranted until some games are played. It's not just keep quiet until the season is over and then dissect.

I personally don't think Anderson made the wrong decision last year. In that Minnisota game I think Garretson looked like the right choice. he had swagger and was making plays and looked like a leader. Then the other teams DE had multiple free shots on him and he was never the same. we all know he was never healthy the rest of the season so that played into his poor play but I also think he got happy feet after that game and honestly never could get comfortable again. those free shots on him were caused by some of the worst oline play i have ever seen in my life and honestly with how devastating of a beating he took I can under stand why he started playing a little scared. before the injuries and the fear kicked in I think he showed more promise in that Minnesota game then 3m showed In any game. also that was on the road where 3ms success was at home. I give 3m credit for playing well but those were Games with positive momentum from the get go. her never was behind and threw the team on his back and carried them to victory. i just think the qb play has been so bad for multiple years hear that we are seeing 3ms few bright spots and turning him into a star in our minds because we are just starving for a competent qb. Looking back at DGs Minnesota game, it really wasn't that good. He averaged less than 10 yards per pass completion, and less than 6 yards per attempt. His only "good" stat was throwing 3 TDs. Just like every other game last year, he really struggled to complete passes downfield (to put it mildly). He got destroyed a couple of times by that DE, but a QB has at least a little responsibility to protect himself. If two blindside hits are going to cause you to put up the worst passer rating in all of FBS football - that's a long way to stretch an excuse. If he really was hurt so badly that it affected his game that much, the change should have been made sooner. DG was also plagued in that game by recievers who couldn't catch the clap in a Eugene sorority! Go Beavs!!

It doesn't speak volumes to me. He lost the starting job to both Garretson and Blount last season. Knowing that the coaches evaluated the talent to start those two over McMaryion, and now Luton over McMaryion? If your daughter chooses to marry a heroin addict over a pediatrician once, are you gonna assume when she does it a second time that the pediatrician must have been terrible? I think most people would assume your daughter is terrible at choosing a spouse. Let's see...3M didn't win the starting job as QB his first year. And despite having the experience that first year, he still lost the starting job to Garretson and Blount last season. Furthermore, despite putting together a couple of winning games, the coaches still don't have faith in him to make him the starting QB. Based upon this information, you can say that the coaches are blind to what is right in front of them. Or you can guess that there is something else, some other issue that makes the coaches look for someone else. My guess: Because 3M never won the starting role even after his experience on the field, I have to believe that there is some major shortcoming. I'm not happy thinking that our starting QB is a UofI cast off. And I wasn't impressed by Garretson last year. I'm biding time until Blount gets put back in the game. It could be a major shortcoming of 3M, or it could be the coaches choosing QBs based on the wrong criteria. We saw the results last year of two different QBs. One was clearly terrible at passing, and one was reasonably competent. There was an interview with the OC implying that the QB who was the best at commanding the huddle was the one who won the starting job vs the one who actually performed. CGA always likes to talk about "toughness". Maybe 3M cries like a bitch when he gets a hang-nail, so CGA believes he's a pussy. As you say, it's all conjecture. The only facts I personally have to go with are what we've seen on the playing field, and what we've seen is exactly the opposite of what we should have expected based on the QB depth chart. SaveSave
