Once again: "I still maintain the biggest mistake of my coaching career was leaving Oregon State."

Once again: "I still maintain the biggest mistake of my coaching career was leaving Oregon State." We'll never know what kind of success...or lack thereof...had he stayed. But here we are and I don't know that the program from top to bottom has ever been in as good of shape as it is right now under JS. To get here we got to enjoy the roller coaster ride of the Riley era, the depths of hell under Whatshisname...and Phoenix rising under JS. Wouldn't trade any of it tbh. Appreciate them all, even whatshisname, since he was in essence the bridge to now. And as bad as that era was...we still got to watch some of the best Beaver players to ever don orange and black.

I will always revere and respect Dennis Erickson. People can trash on him all they want, but he took what Riley left him, which wasn't crap albeit, brought in the necessary Jucos and got us to the promised land....well less a Rose Bowl, which to me is still the pinnacle. But still, love the guy. He wasn't perfect, yeah, yeah we know that. But that was a beautiful chapter in OSU football lore.

If not, where was the timeout? I just remember playing golf behind DE’s group and the beer cans falling out of the cart.

Not sure where you’re getting that from.

I was gonna raise a fuss about the whatshisname years, but then I remembered watching the Beavs run all over the mighty ducks in the rainy Civil War. That was a fabulous game! Not sure if it's the tequila talking tonight, but I felt the same way after that CW as I did the Elite 8 appearance. Odd how the following year turned out to be crap for both after what should have been a momentum building event.

My cousin coached with Dennis Erickson's son once upon a time and got to spend some time with Dennis. When the microphone was not on, Dennis mentioned that he really regretted leaving Oregon State.
He also lamented that Cesca cost him a Championship. Although his phraseology included more four-letter words.
