Question Fishwrapper....the football coach at Corvallis High, McGowan, has been a loser for YEARS and clearly runs a substandard program, especially when compared to football at Crescent Valley. Given CHS long history of football success before McGowan, why wasn't he fired years ago?? I have heard that he has influential friends around town.... |

Question Fishwrapper....the football coach at Corvallis High, McGowan, has been a loser for YEARS and clearly runs a substandard program, especially when compared to football at Crescent Valley. Given CHS long history of football success before McGowan, why wasn't he fired years ago?? I have heard that he has influential friends around town.... McGowan stepped down after the '22 season ended - his son's senior year. Thomas Casey stepped up...then stepped down at the end of this season. We're in limbo. But, as they say, tomorrow is another day... |

Crescent Valley has struggled a lot lately too. The turnouts for football are very low at both schools and that definitely handicaps them.
Both programs were hurt by the departure of our football coach. His kid was a good athlete at CV, and Lindgren's son was going to be a player at CHS.

I dont follow Corvallis High sports these days but Chris McGowan doesn't deserve to be s%#t on ever. I'd be stoked if he wants to come coach my son's team in Reno. It's not like he could have recruited good football players to move to Corvallis.
CHS had great coaches in the past but they also had ridiculously phenomenal athletes and talent to work with. That's kind of how the ebb and flow of HS sports works in small towns.
