Talia didn’t play much in the second half. She must be transferring.

Remember that coach Katie, former OSU Assistant, knows the OSU system very well. UW knew how to exploit OSU offensively and defensively. UW played lights out today. This game highlighted how valuable Raegan Beers is to this team. Raegan would have stopped many of the baskets at the rim today. It has been pointed out enough that our other 2 post players are in now way a substitution for Raegan at the 5. Kelsey is valuable on D when Raegan is in the lineup, but not strong or skilled enough to play the 5.
Hopefully Raegan returns sooner than later. Film is a great teacher and class starts tomorrow.
GO BEAVS!

I guess the Beavers were not really interested in a Pac-12 co-championship with Stanford afterall. Better luck next time. Oh wait, there will NEVER be a next time. What a shame. What a crime. What a wasted opportunity. The team and coaching staff couldn't even beat a bottomfeeder when a win was absolutely essential. Pathetic. Depressing.

My opinion talia plays her best when she has a great leader leading. She was lights out during her senior year due to our leader was a great point guard. Same thing with this year as having beers on the court. Not alot of leadership otherwise. Maybe some where in between?

After the previous series of games and wins, the complete lack of focus of this game was most troubling; especially the 2022-2023 frantic-type of substituting. Perhaps this was a "Back to the Future" game and we were not let in on the secret. I know some have posted that this was just one of those "let-down" games that all great teams have. I experienced it more like "Dazed and Confused".

Come on, stop making excuses. The Beavers choked and they did not even attempt to match UW's intensity and effort. A beatdown from an inferior opponent should NEVER, EVER happen to the 9th best team in America! Watching such poor play, especially on offense was sickening. Unbelievable. The abundace of careless turnovers, poor shooting, poor passing, failure to locate and cover the hot UW shooters, lack of effort, lack of hustle, lack of focus, and lack of attention to detail exhibited by OSU made me want to puke as I watched the game live on TV. Maybe the top 10 ranking went to their heads..being too cocky and over-confident is not a good formula for winning either.

Getting smoked out of the gate. Down 8-0. This is what happens when you don't start your best players. You get behind the 8-ball and it's tough to recover on the road in a hostile environment. I've been advocating for Timea and Dom to be in the starting lineup since early season. Talia is much better from the get-go when she has some offensive talent on the floor with her to start these games. Even with RB we've started so many games struggling offensively and then when Timea and Dom come in we start clicking. With Timea and Dom in the starting lineup and hopefully RB back also we can put a hurt on most teams early and make them be the ones to try and come from behind which most times won't happen with our normally good defense.

The team has hit some serious adversity after looking simply dominant for a good stretch prior to the Beers injury. Of late, they've their offense has looked like their opponents offense going up against OSU.
Beers was the player that could draw double-teams or just feed her all night. Oregon was a team that was able to defend Beers without double-teaming her, and the offense struggled.
What I thought we'd now see is putting that role on Timea. Timea is also a player that can also demand a double-team or she can just keep scoring, but they don't feed her like they did Beers; I'm a little puzzled that we didn't see more of that, or some two-woman game with Timea and TvO.
Ultimately, offenses can be solved by defenses unless individuals can force the defenses to get imbalanced. This is the 3rd game where the offense didn't put a lot of pressure on the opponent's defense. IMO, this is on the coaches; the offense that works with Beers works exactly because she's so hard to guard and creates defensive weak spots. We have other players that can do the same, but not with the same offensive approach. I put this on the coaches, and if Beers isn't back by next weekend, I expect we will see something different on offense.

Many teams that have lost a key post player have had games where they’ve struggled immensely. - UCLA looked awful against WSU and Stanford without Betts - Stanford didn’t look good against AZ and lost at home without Brink - K State struggled in games without their top big (though they did pull out some close wins without her) Not sure why some on this board feel the need to come up with some crazy conspiracies about overlooking Washington and their ranking getting to their head. I’m by no means defending OSU’s performance (especially Talia and AJ) yesterday but I’m not shocked that this happened with Beers out (just like UCLA looking awful without Betts didn’t shock me).

Some good observations by several. Nothing new from me except our lack of offense and defense from our post players except Gardner and she appears to have issues playing with her back to the basket. Hanford with her shooting stance has to be entirely open. Our post are a joke. They have no moves whatsoever and Rees idea of defense is giving up uncontested 6- 8 footers which we continuly did or starting a center who rarely plays.

Lefty,
I would disagree with one point. Although I do understand your perspective about Lily H. and her shooting stance, I believe her quick release and position of readiness with her feet, etc. does allow her to shoot when not "entirely open".
I hope (and believe) that she will progress to the point where she may equal the great Kat Tudor (who got totally mistreated by the NCAA who would not allow her the medical red shirt year she deserved).
