This isn't about facing him. We have won enough NC's in baseball. If we win another this year that's great, but this goes beyond baseball. I get the forgiving part. I would just be pissed if my university offered him a scholly and knew before they offered of said offense. We have as well. And we have three all-american type pitchers. We don't need a fourth. I'm frustrated by journalists that use his ERA as a straw man to claim that it is the priority of the fan base. Most of the discussion is thoughtful and does not involve LH as a key player. That is a narrative pushed by the media. I have two daughters, both adults now. We were extremely vigilant in protecting them from adults because that was the history in our family. Never thought about a child. I would feel the way you do about an adult, but I would not automatically jump to the same position with a 13 or 15 year old. I've known some 15 year olds with the maturity of an adult, and others with the maturity of an elementary school child. This a sad and complex problem, and one that should not be settled by sports reporters.

Lsuson, I do not excuse Luke's acts in any way, shape or form. Still, LSU fans sure the heck shouldn't be on a forum talking about legal problems of athletes at other shool without talking about the legal problems of LSU athletes as well.

This young man deserves to take the biggest stage in college baseball. A huge reason we are going to Omaha is because of his efforts on the mound this year, and his leadership off of it. Beaver Nation has your back, Luke. With all due respect, whether he was a "huge reason" we are going to Omaha or was just a bullpen guy who hadn't thrown in a game all year should have no bearing on whether he deserves (or doesn't) to still be on the team and travel to Omaha. So true. I hope the people that support him being able to play are doing for the right reasons.

But I'm not talking about victims. How would you feel if that was your niece? If I had a family member that was molested, I'd be in jail after I got with the perpetrator. I always love reading these vigilante quotes. Seen them from OSU posters on this board as well. If the general public actually acted in the way that they claim they would, we'd have a sh!t-ton more people in jail for felony assaults and murders than we do now.

Read the Portland Tribune article, get up to speed, then if you have any insight feel free to share it. portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/363027-243259-a-look-at-some-issues-involving-luke-heimlich-

But I'm not talking about victims. How would you feel if that was your niece? If I had a family member that was molested, I'd be in jail after I got with the perpetrator. Oh for God's sake. This is such a ridiculous argument. There is a reason why civilized society has decided that victims don't get to determine the fate of the perpetrator. Long ago, we have decided that society functions best when ruled by law, instead of ruled by man. Oh course anyone with a pulse would instinctively act to defend their kids if it had happened to them. That's a completely natural and normal reaction, but it misses the point. This is 2017, "an eye for an eye" doesn't really fly anymore. The entire purpose of the juvenile court system is to rehabilitate and reintegrate these kids back into society (including sealing and/or expunging juvenile records so as not to haunt them in adulthood). It's long ago been decided that when kids commit crimes, their entire lives shouldn't be lost, and through counseling and/or rehab they can become contributing members of society. Luke has done everything that was asked of him by the courts. He is in good standing with the law. In two months his juvenile record will most likely be expunged. He is the poster child for how the system is supposed to work. He is in good standing with Oregon State. He has been a model teammate. Having to pay, again, for his crime as a juvenile, because the Oregonian chose to pedal in sensationalism is NOT how the system was designed to work.

Of all the peanut gallery statements we have all made. this is one of the best ones. Yes. I have two daughters. I would of personally killed Luke H. with my own two hands. I guaren-damn-tee it. But as you said, that is EXACTLY why the victim does not decide the punishment. EXACTLY why we have a 3rd party system that rules on matters of law and punishment and sets forth the standard for them to return to society. It is hard for us to do, but we have to respect the system, and if we do not like something, we affect the system. Of interesting side note, as you bring up. Luke H. intends to come back next year. In August, as we mention his record can be expunged. in the eyes of the law, he is not a sex offender, not a criminal, not anything. What, if anything? does that change now...

Yes. I have two daughters. I would of personally killed Luke H. with my own two hands. I guaren-damn-tee it. I very seriously doubt this statement. The # of people who claim they would do this if it happened vs those who have actually done it is miniscule. But maybe you're that one cold-blooded murderer out of 1000.

We all feel, or have felt that this is something we might do if faced with such horrible circumstances. I hope none of us ever are placed in such a situation.

I can't believe you would still want him on your team after knowing what he had done. I would disown my school and would not support the baseball program if that happened at LSU. LMAO... but dating/ marrying cousins/ relatives and cock and dog fighting is just fine. Ya color us all jealous of the southern morale majority! Lol

I assume lsuson has disavowed his school and football program? The other LSU arrest occurred in May when offensive lineman Jevonte Domond was charged with felony domestic abuse for allegedly attacking his fiancée and strangling her. Lealaimatafao and Bain are no longer with the program. Jennings, Thomas and Domond were all reinstated to the football team last August. Last year marked the third consecutive season where a LSU football player with pending charges and an offseason suspension was reinstated, according to Saturday Down South. As White's charges make their way through court, the newest Tiger moved down to Baton Rouge to start the semester and will take part in spring practice beginning in March. www.shreveporttimes.com/story/sports/college/2016/01/14/lsu-athletics-ranked-high-player-arrests-last-year/78754124/
