I have gotten on my soapbox several times recently to advocate the hiring of the best possible triple option coach and making a firm commitment to Triple option football as a foundation of Oregon State football.
Today I will be brief. If you are able to obtain it, watch the replay of the Colorado State University (yes the CSU that crushed the Beavers in game 1 this year) vs the Air Force Falcons (triple option offense). The game occurred today October 28th.
We all are aware of the recruiting disadvantages, etc., etc. that the military academies have. Despite this, look at both the process and the result of this game before you make a final judgment on my position.
Thank you for having an open mind-Go Beavs.

Not sure that your response qualifies as having an "open mind" but thank you for responding nevertheless.

No, sorry, a movement to the triple option would be a sign (to me) that the AD has completely given up on the football program and I would rather sit in a pit filled with snakes, scorpions and molten lava than watch my beloved Beavers run the triple option...

We made an admirable (team played hard)/dismal (very minimal success) effort at option football with Pettibone. I do not want to do that again.

Thank you for having an open mind-Go Beavs. All I will say is one dimensional offenses struggle when their strength is taken away. Case and point, Stanford! This is a passing conference. You absolutely need to be able to throw the football downfield in the PAC 12. Were you around when Pettibone was here? It was not a glorious time in terms of competing or winning! Go Beavs!

Back in 1990 Pettibone's NIU team wholluped #24 Fresno State 71-20something and OSU'S braintrust said "You know, the triple option is still a viable option."
The rest is history.

Thank you for having an open mind-Go Beavs. I like Troy Calhoun (Air Force's coach) a lot. If he came here he would not run an option offense. He's a pro guy that runs what he thinks will create the most success. I'm fairly certain I read an interview of his a few years ago saying that if he had a very mobile quarterback (and not at a service academy) he'd only run the option as a change of pace, similar to how some teams run a wildcat.

Thank you for having an open mind-Go Beavs. The triple option is darn near unwatchable. I know Nebraska fans who enjoyed the winning but hated to watch it. It is dull. If you could guarantee me 10-win seasons at Oregon State, I say, yeah, totally. Let's do it! Until then.............no!

Still don’t see this as attractive to recruits who would rather play in pro style or the myriad of spread option offenses. There is a reason very FEW other non academy P5 programs run pure triple option.

So Georgia Tech has completely given up on its football program? If it works who cares what they run. I'm not in favor of a triple option based offense but if they find a guy that thinks he can win by running it and proves he can I'd support it 100%
