ISU, Kentucky, Arizona. The things that make college football fun.
OSU will be back in that group in 20 or so years.

I think it's time to let go of the qb what if's. That coach is gone, and we are moving forward. Congrats to a kid that has morphed into an outstanding qb - and a defense that has stepped up to go head to head against the big boys.

The QB what-ifs will continue certainly as long as any of those pushed out still have eligibility, and I suspect will continue for years and years to come, no matter how much anyone wants them to go away. Big, giant elephants in the room tend to call attention to themselves, and the handling of OSU's QB situation is the most obvious reason CGA was a massive failure.

I'd love to, but man the number of boneheaded blunders and obvious screw ups are so large that I honestly have to wonder if Andersen was secretly a paid saboteur, Financed by Phil Knight. I mean he did leave his contract money on the table when he walked away...

Kyle was the 4th string QB when Riley was here and he had to walk on at Iowa St. I think that a lot of people missed out on him.
If you going to rip Andersen about Kyle, you need to also rip Riley and the Iowa St. coach. Kyle was the 3rd string QB for ISU at the start of the year.

I do not have to rip Riley, when Riley had Florida's starter as the starter-in-waiting in 2015 with Iowa State's starter as his backup and Fresno State's starter as third string. The offensive talent that was lined up in 2015 is mind-numbing. If BDC had not chased off Langs, both 2014 and 2015 (and probably 2016 and 2017, as well) could have been very fun to watch. (In an alternate reality, Langs stayed and BDC got chased off. Maybe Banker gets chased off and someone else brought on to take Oregon State over the top?)

I was joking. Making a funny. I can always find a reason to pile on Andersen. I am sure he has a lifetime supply of big boy pants he can put on to help him weather the storm.

Riley had Vanderveen ahead of both Kempt and El Dio in 2014. Also, I'm sorry, but El Dio sucks. Florida won some games last year when he started, but that was because of their defense. El Dio would not have been a game-changer here.
Bash away about the McMaryion run-off because that has legitimacy, but El Dio would not have made a difference here and nobody foresaw Kempt doing anything here.
Also, I don't know where you get the "mind-numbing" offensive talent going into 2015. Whoever was going to play QB was a huge drop off from Mannion and our best RB (Woods) was consistently hurt. Yes, Mullaney was a decent receiver, but I would not consider him and Bolden to be "mind-numbing". We were going to have a serious rebuilding year in 2015. Definitely not as bad as what actually happened, but Riley would have struggled with that team also. Riley may have won 4 or 5 games with that team.

Since LDR was actually the kid getting the mop-up PT behind Mannion in 2014, I'm not sure where your depth chart info is coming from. And, the point isn't really where these kids slotted in the depth chart, anyhow. The point is - the QB play for this program the past 3 years has absolutely SUCKED (outside of a few 3M games), and even a "non-game-changer" like LDR would have been an upgrade of major magnitude over what CGA ran out there. LDR, 3M, and Kempt are worlds better QBs than the Collins, Garretson, Luton trio. As for the "mind-numbing" comment - I wouldn't use that adjective, but we did have like 9 or 10 offensive starters returning for 2015, which should have made for at least a pretty decent offense. The defense is where MR would have had trouble.

El Dio only played his first 2 games uninjured in 2016. 48/76 for 586 yards, 6 TDs/1 Int. Everything else he played with a shoulder dislocation and most of those games he also had a knee injury. The shoulder separation occurred on like the third offensive play of game three. A healthy El Dio is actually a pretty impressive QB.
