From the ESPN article - "Sources told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg that the search firm Oregon State hired is targeting candidates with some head-coaching experience and ties to the Northwest. Washington offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith, a former quarterback at Oregon State, is expected to be among the top candidates for the job." Dang, that's vague. For example, Corey Hall meets that - high school head coach. If you read it to mean head coaching in the Northwest, that could be a lot of names. Skip Belly, Mike Bellotti (has he removed his name from consideration yet?), Rich Brooks, Dennis E, Mike R, Steve Sarkisian, the guitar playing Neuheisel, Tyrone Willingham, Paul Wulff, Bill Doba, Paul Petrino, Robb Akey, Nick Holt, Baldwin, Nigel Burton and other guys that are likely +75. Another note and I'll use one of wilky's tricks. Throwing out Karl Dorrell's one good year at UCLA, his record was 25-25. Throwing out Neuheisel's two poor years, his record was 13-13. Out if that list I'd take Baldwin, Neuheisel and a sober Sarkisian as my top tier guys, followed by Burton/Petrino/Akey, then Smith and Hall - both of which I think would be doing themselves a huge favor by NOT becoming Power 5 head coaches just yet.

Robb Akey?? 20-50 at UI. Having him anywhere on your list is not good for your credibility.
