I just thought about an interesting wrinkle to this. If MR is coming back (like 02Beaver is saying), then there will be...I think at least 4 people on staff that have been QB coaches. Riley, Smith, and I believe both the new OC and O-line coach had that on their resumes too. That’s pretty interesting... Riley could coach most any position on the field. Put him where he fits best... If we are looking for QB play similar to when MR was head coach, certainly can use him there. If not, he could coach many or most of the other positions on the field...even on defense It is pretty easy to plug and play elsewhere and put MR in as coach wherever.

I like it a lot.
Mike has 3QB’s on NFL rosters. No question he knows his stuff here. Maybe his top skill.
I also like him as a talent evaluator. Oregon State is going to have to be better finding the overlooked gems. Riley had a guy (wasn’t it Jim Gilstrap?) whose great talent was finding overlooked players. I think Mike could play this role well.
Riley has never been a huge ego guy or outsized personality. He is one former head coach who could slide into an assistant role without causing a lot of problems. I seem him being an asset to niner when he’s needed for advice.
I loved Riley when he was here but felt like he was getting stale his last 2 years. Too bad it didn’t work out at Nebraska, but I feel like he’s a guy with a huge wealth of knowledge who will be a great asset to the program.

BB 1111 - Your posts all seem to have at least one error that really jumps right out at the reader. On this rant, in the last sentence, I believe the second 'to' should be 'too'. Please tighten it up a bit. I'm saying it was fat fingers and that 2nd one didn't belong at all! Correct on the not needed second. If not recognizable, my retort was intended to be 100% humor.
