He loves it there and doesn't want to leave, it's as simple as that. If he loves it so much, how come he lives in Corvallis and commutes? Shrug, I lived in Eugene and commuted to Corvallis for 2 years.

Maybe he's waiting for Leavitt to make his decision public. He's telling players he's staying no matter who the DC is.

FWIW
If he wants to be a toilet seat, let him be a toilet seat. I’d love to have the man back in the orange and black, but I trust CJS to make the right call. We aren’t going to win a bidding war.

I suppose we might, depending on what position he's offered at each program. Oregon is going to have a huge payroll already and may not be able to match.

The Beavers could potentially win a bidding war. It depends on what other guys will need to be paid. OSU has 3.3 million to play with which is competitive. I think they need to offer him the DC (or at least Co-DC) job to get him though. And honestly I would if I were Smith. I think Heyward is worth that risk.

He's hit on a few things, but I wouldn't put much stock on his calls on assistants so far. In this case, unfortunately, he is implying there is much more of a chance of Heyward coming to OSU than there is in reality.

As a Fan, I would love to have him back in Black too, but, the man makes his living doing this. It's no longer a game to him, it's work. Bigger office, bigger bucks, more national exposure, what would you do. 45 minutes on Hwy. 99 is not a bad commute - in good weather. However, it is the smucks. It would have to have an additional 100 grand cushion for me. Maybe two.

Sounds like he'd come if Smith made him DC (Dam Podcast is the source); maybe Smith is only offering a lateral move. If that is the case I wouldn't expect him to make the move.

I listened to the Dam Podcast as well. Sounds like CJS has only spoken to KH once this week, for about 5 minutes? Maybe KH as DC was never part of the plan?
Did we ever get clarification on UO's assistant's contracts regarding new jobs prior to the bowl game? Maybe KH is just honoring that...
Oh well, outside our control either way. The way Yve Bernard made it sound a few weeks ago, KH would come to OSU as DC, even if he had a similar offer from UO.
Then again, this is all from Angie's sources. Multiple grains of salt taken.

He's under contract and that carriers certain limits at the moment so I wouldn't read anything into the situation for now. That said, if it doesn't work out the Wyoming DC has been mentioned as a possible hire and he has a more than solid resume. In fact I would be excited if he ended up here.

Thanks for the clarification on the contract, thanks for the information. I understand KH wants to be a DC. The only situation where I'd be "upset" as a beaver fan is if he had comparable offers by OSU and UO, and elected to stay at UO. If he gets a better offer from them, I'd be disappointed but I wouldn't hold it against him necessarily. The guy from Wyoming does sound promising. It looks like he learned under Gus Bradley for a few years when he was at the Jags, which is solid. I'm concerned, as I always have been, about recruiters. We need some more stud recruiters on the staff. KH by all accounts is an elite recruiter.

Not having Josh Allen hurt in the last two games. Wyoming had no offense and the defense was on the field all game long.

I wish he wanted to be with us. But history is against us on this one. Love him but he wants for so much more then his OSU family can provide. Cant blame him for that but 30 mins south does truly hurt the spirit.
If its not meant so be, there are other motivated souls who are ready and willing to commit to the vision.

Why is history against us and what can't we offer? In order to know we can't provide what he's looking for, you'd need to know what he's being offered. Do you know what he's being offered?
