A pretty honest assessment - but that is the only thing I ever thought we would get from Coach Smith, and some good exposure from a national publication.

From the article: “I always thought if Oregon State was ever going to build statues of two guys outside the stadium it should be Jonathan Smith and (running back) Ken Simonton,” Riley told USA TODAY Sports. “What this place became, it was built on those guys’ backs.”
I couldn't agree more!

She misspelled the word “back” as “bakc” which I only found amusing cause it is Schnell, and she seems to love taking digs at OSU whenever possible.

I saw him at the Beaver Store today with his family, loading up on stuff. He was smiling, open and friendly with everyone who approached him. The staff was excited to see him. This will turn out to be a transformational hire, I hope.

Does USA Today have editors? I assume not give this embarrassingly written to publish article. Microsoft Word actually edits stuff.. maybe it was written on a smart phone...

Noticed more than one glaring typo. With all the aspiring sports journalists out there, how is she still employed by any major publication? I mean, is she too busy to proofread through her own report?

Sometimes one should proof his own copy before playing grammar policeman. Save the typo, and a rather abrupt ending, that was a pretty solid story.

I once commented somewhat negatively on the sentence structure and punctuation on one of her articles. She PM'ed me with a very long, very angry rant. If I have time maybe I will look and see if I still have it. It made me laugh at the time, but also I was really embarrassed for how childish she was about it.

Maybe I should DM her about what I found... In response to Henry, there is a big difference between typo/grammar errors on a sports message board vs an article published by a supposedly professional reporter. I mean, I’m not getting paid to talk Beaver football with my fellow fans, I just do it because I like your insights and we all share at least one common hobby :-) Schnell, in my opinion, has been consistently negative in her reporting about OSU, which is why some of us aren’t exactly avid fans. Once she reports something original I’ll be interested. For the record Henry, I genuinely love your posts man. Love your insights and I hope you keep sharing it with all of us.

I totally agree. She is consistently a Debbie Downer about all things OSU.
And yes, there is a huge difference between typos in a published article and typos on a message board post. But if one (not you) is going to play grammar cop, then at least make sure the post you're playing grammar cop on isn't chocked full of mistakes as well.

Bad grammar and spelling by younger folks w/phone = Too lazy to read the text before sending...or...dont know when its wrong Angry rant after being corrected by those who grew up making sure their writing correct = Insecure

Schnell gets a real bad rap. I typically avoid that talkin’ Beavs Show, but the few times I watch, it seems like the former players are all rah rah and Lindsey is hung out to dry to be the counter argument so they can have an actual debate about topics. She has always been very complimentary of Riley and Pat Casey. About the only negative things I can remember her saying is that it’s hard to recruit to OSU and that we sucked hardcore from 2015-17....things that are true. I also feel like she was pretty critical of the Luke Heimlich situation, something I also have no problem with her doing.
You may not like that she shines a light on the shady areas of OSU Athletics, but at least she provides me with something to think about.
As for the grammar thing, it drives me up a wall too, but it’s a losing battle. It’s not something our society places a premium on anymore.
Also, how did nobody catch that she used “marred” instead of “mired” in the first paragraph?
