Wish him the best of luck. The Oregon State head coaching job requires a level of intestinal fortitude, persistence, and talent than he has within him at present. That coordinator position would give him the chance to rebuild his reputation. If he can do the job at SMU, then I could see a mid-major giving him another shot based on his Utah State experience. It stills surprises me a coach who could rebuild a losing Utah State program in a state dominated by the Utes and Cougars would so comprehensively lose faith in himself and his abilities here. I’m pretty sure we need Paul Harvey to fully understand what happened. Just my thought. Has a very Howard Schnellenberger/Oklahoma vibe to it. Coach gives every indication he is up to the demands of the position, then proceeds to flame out like he's never had a head coaching job in his life.
