I guess SJSU is too tough for us that early in the season... We also know Sac State was...LOL! The Vikes did everything but win the game in 2017, so that is an improvement over what we have done against some other very weak teams in the past.

Division 1 schools should never play a D2 school. Doesn't matter if it Alabama playing Mercer, or our beloved Beavers playing PSU. Nothing good comes out of playing a D2 team.

One power five opponent (Oklahoma State), one group of five opponent (Colorado State ), and an FCS opponent. I like this, it's balanced. Every power five team should do this at a minimum.

Division 1 schools should never play a D2 school. Doesn't matter if it Alabama playing Mercer, or our beloved Beavers playing PSU. Nothing good comes out of playing a D2 team. I don't like playing D2 schools either but, there is a bit of good involved here. 400,000.00 is probably a pretty good payday for a local school like PSU. It's kind of like the Beavs playing the other PSU (pen state) or tOSU. I don't know what we get but I would guess it's 6-8 hundred thousand. If not, we're not very smart. It's also a big gamble for our OSU playing the 2s. We get our ass handed to us (almost last year) and we wear that defeat awhile. (Sac. State) Why not a change of scenery. How about one of the Dakotas or Eastern KY, one of the outside Austin, Texas schools, UTEP or many others to choose from. What school is Ian Shields coaching now. That would be a game with an unusual home coming interest. Just something different to jive the place up a bit. I know it's probably a difficult task keeping a schedule up but, make it entertaining and interesting and they will come. Especially if the Beavs win.

Better than going to SJSU I didn’t read the article before posting. I was being a bit goofy, figured there was a good reason. A home game beats a road game in pre-season most times. I’d hope we have a 2 home 1 away deal with SDSU.

Portland State is a Division I program. FCS, but still Division I.
This game was changed at SJSU's request. It filled the original 2020 date with a home game against West Point. So we actually did a favor to coach Brennan by agreeing to the change.

Hey, we had that this year, it worked out great. That said I’d like to get it where we could play 1 power 5 and 2 group of 5 teams with a good chance of being 3 and 0 afterwards.

wow....nothing says “energize the fan base” with crap scheduling like this. There are only about 120 other FBS schools scheduling the exact same way.
