A healthy Nall on any top 20 team in the country is borderline all American. Speed, power, moves, great hands. That 70 yard run vs WSU he flat out outruns the entire defense. He made Oregon look silly. I'd love to know his stats for YAC, although there were plenty of times he was mauled behind or at the LOS by 3 or 4 guys.
Maybe the 100th time I've whined about it, but I don't know how CGA watched what was happening with this offense at the end of the 2016 season and decided...nah, we'll be better changing the offense for the 3rd straight year and starting a JC transfer with no Pac 12 experience under center. As Chaz would say...what an IDIOT

I don't know how well Nall will do in the pros, but if he was put on a good team and was healthy enough (<--that's a big "if"), he would be known as one of the best RBs around.
The fact that CGA had an offense that was coming together at the end of 2016 gave an air of good things to come, for the rest of the offense and for Nall in particular. And then andersen killed it...he chose not merely to shoot himself in the foot but decided rather to cut his leg off above the knee with a rusty handsaw.

Using the way back machine, Ryan reminds me a lot of Todd Christensen...of BYU and Oakland Raider Fame. Ryan is the same size but seems to be a little faster version. Christensen was a bull and tough to drop as I remember. I hope Nall gets on with a club that will utilize his talents. Stay healthy big guy! Considering that Christensen was a RB at BYU and played fullback for several NFL teams before finding fame as a TE for the Raiders he would the perfect person for Nall to emulate.

And then proceeded to beat the remaining players with the amputated leg... QA did real and serious harm to Nall's, and I am sure others, future career... If we had kept 3M and the offense at the end of 2016 for all of 2017 we would be talking about a 1000 maybe 1200 yard rusher that has a chance to go in the top three rounds...

He gained 6.5 yards a carry in 2016, missed 3 games and still gained over 800 yards.
Freeman had 245 carries last year. Assuming Nall played in every game for OSU last year with offensive continuity from 2016 (3M under center, same scheme), I think he gets to 1200 yards easy. Maybe 1500.
Yes I'm smoking the Nall bong, but I've never seen so much talent wasted by one coach. He's not Steven Jackson, I know, but go watch that highlight reel, that's a really really good RB playing for a crappy team.

I was on campus back a few months ago for some alumni thing and I ran into Nall as he and Pierce were walking into campus over by Dixon. He is a stunningly massive human being. you cannot understate how huge he really is. He does not look like a running back. He looks like a MLB. For him to have moves he has, the speed he has, the hands he has... He really is in that borderline unicorn territory. He towered over Pierce and made him (who is no small dude) look like a high school freshman. It was all just wasted like we have said. But I do think that NFL scouts see him. they do. you can't NOT see him, he is the biggest muther effer in the room! The NFL and scouts and GM always will fall head over heels for a guy with off the charts measurables. We see it over and over. It never seems to portend to NFL success... but it does predict getting drafted, and many times well above where you "deserved" to go. I think Nall can be that guy. The guy with not overly impressive college stats, a guy not sniffing post season awards or heisman talk. none of that. But he can walk into the combine. Be the biggest RB by a mile and then probably be in the upper 3rd in 40 time. He will turn heads.

You can't tell me that Nall is any less athletic than LeGarette Blount.

I don't give a rat's behind how many super bowl rings that jacka@@ gets in the NFL - he is, and will always be, a dirtbag! Great emissary for the National Felon's League!

Questions to people on the board:
How many men in the NFL make the transition from a position in college to a new one in the NFL? It seems to me that if I was an NFL GM and wanted a TE, I would draft a TE, not a big running back and hope to convert him.
Do players often make a transition like that? Empirically, I think it happens a lot more often than most people would think. I do not have data to back this up.

Do players often make a transition like that? Empirically, I think it happens a lot more often than most people would think. I do not have data to back this up. Generally, it's limited to similar types of positions: CB to S, OLB to DE, DE to OLB, TE to H-back. OT to OG. Those types of things happen all the time. By definition, an H-Back is a "hybrid" of a fullback and TE. Nall had the skills that he was considered a candidate for TE. That NFL teams might think he'd be a decent H-back doesn't seem too crazy. Until you look at the tape and see that his most outstanding skills are not punishing blocks at the point of attack. He plays more like a traditional "breakaway" RB rather than a physical, between-the-tackles pounder. I do think he could be a very decent 3rd down type back, or one of those "catch first" TEs. I'm gonna wait until we see his 40 time. If he runs a sub 4.6 time at his size, he will get a LOT of attention.

Always reminded me of Brian Cushing. Physical specimen. Uncommon. Too bad Nally couldn't have had a chance with a REAL coach with a REAL offense. Wasted.
